I assume this will have the same rather aggressive detent that the MassForge knives had? Which was fine on the Crux since it had the nice jimping on the generous flipper tab. Not so great on the Gent, not a deal breaker, but stiff detent plus smooth, smaller flipper tab doesn't make for the easiest deployment.
BknguyenMy Gent definitely broke in after playing with it for a while. I recently disassembled it and replaced the factory oil with Nano Oil, including on the detent ball and track, and it’s much less grabby now.
BknguyenThe Crux didn't seem to break in much at all. My Gent is out traveling around the Instagram EDC community right now, so I can't speak to it's current detent.
namhodI've never really had a problem with the flipper tab, I've owned 5 (more on the way too, also send help) of the MDXFF knives and my finger has only slipped a handful of times out of the thousands of times that I've flipped them. I personally prefer a harder detent so that the action would feel snappier.
namhodI know that some people don't want to disassemble and tune there knife. Many prefer it just be perfect to their liking straight out of the box. But, If you are the type that like to disassemble to clean and oil your knives, you can easily adjust the detent to your own personal taste. Since there is no overtravel stop other than the scale on the clip side of the knife, just remove that scale and and gently bend the lock bar out. Do this in small increments and keep testing as not to go to far and make the detent weak.
(I'm talking about the GENT from FF)
namhodAgreed that having WE manufacture the knife will lead to similarity...I would think that there will be different spec's and expectations driven by the designer in the WE-Mass drop-Designer collaboration
