Damn I hate these drops. Trying to look for these type keycaps for a tenkeyless but it costs another 45 for the beige mod kit. It fewer keys. What's the point of just selling the base kit if it doesn't even include everything that would be on a normal keyboard? Honestly so frustrated with these products...

ThePWRofYogbecause there are different modifier kits? should there be two different base kits, one for each set of modifiers? What if people don't need modifiers at all? (eg. ortholinear or Ergodox users) It's done for flexibility. Buy only the sets you need to minimise wasted keys.

sevenseacatI feel like it would make more sense to have a TKL kit and a 60% kit. Then after that you can have all the little modifier kits. That seems like a better solution. Then again they can probably get more money out of they do this.

ThePWRofYogHow would it make more sense? With a 60% kit you'd still end up with keys you don't need for planck/ergodox.
Do you think bundling the base and mods into one package would somehow make it drastically cheaper? If anything it'll be the opposite since this way more plack/ergo users are likely to buy the base so potentially it'll hit a higher price drop.

ThePWRofYogThe problem then is now you have 2 sets that need to meet MOQ, instead of 1 set of Alphas and 1 set of modifers that nearly everyone would need.

JoshimitsuI mean you can always keep the speacialized kits there. I'm just saying that there should be a kit specifically for 60% and TKL keyboards so that those users aren't forced to have to buy multiple sets when they are probably the most common keyboard types. Like the base kit has F5-F8 missing. What's the deal with that? Along with that, the picture and price before clicking on the drop are a bit decieving. It shows a TKL keyboard with caps at $49 dollars when in reality it's closer to $100 dollars.

ThePWRofYogIt wouldn't be much cheaper just because they bundled it together. In fact, it would probably be more since more people will choose to buy the alphas set + the mods set they want and then the bundled set will have less overall purchased, meaning it won't reach many price breaks, if any. You're thinking about it too much in a convenience factor point of view, without thinking at all about the marketing/business point of view. They want everyone to have a chance to get their sets. If they broke it up the way you wanted, many kits may not reach MOQ. If you always want a full base kit, you can just stick to GMK because they don't break up alphas and mods, afaik.

ThePWRofYogOther than GMK 'base kits' every custom keycap set is going to come this way. It's the only way to have multiple variants and allow people to choose what combination they want. You wouldn't save any time or money if there was a 60% or TKL kits. It wouldn't satisfy potential buyers, and it would still require multiple kits for color variants and the like.
The universal solution is keeping kits separate, and there really isn't a good argument against that. This would not turn into a TKL or 60% kit that costs $50, it would still cost the combined total of the kits you see here.
Also F keys that appear missing? That is because most F key arrangements have alternating colors. Gives people the option to still do so.
