Perhaps my expectations were a little too high, but after having used these for a few days my impressions has been that the sound is somewhat muffled, with a noticeable midbass hump. Has anyone else noticed this? Some of the headphones I have to compare to are the Audio Technica CK10s, Flare Audio R2As, VSonic GR07s, and the Sennheiser HD598s (not IEMs obviously). Perhaps my expectations were too high, as these are cheaper than all those (though I paid less for the 598s new and the CK10s secondhand), but I'd heard the P1s compared favorably to these models in the past. I was mainly looking at the P1 because I wanted a pair of midrange IEMs with detachable cables, as mine always seem to develop cable issues after 6 months to a year of use, and I hate having to replace them or solder new connectors all the time. I'll let these burn in longer and roll tips a bit to see if it gets better. The price is still quite good regardless.

gdchenThe 598's are natorious for having less than neutral bass. They're not bass heavy, they're not even neutral. They have less bass than neutral, so anything remotely neutral sounds a bit havier comparitively. Try swapping ear tips out, I thought they sounded muffled until I found the tips that fit my ears best (for me it was the largest foam tips) and they do have a bit in the bass but not much. I don't think it's "bass heavy" but it adds a nice richness to basso profundo opera singers voices, oktavists, and some low baritones as well. Just try all the tips, you might be surprised with what changes, burn in might make it more clear too but IEM's are super sensitive to eartip changes, much more so than pad changes with headphones

gdchen100% agree.
I'm an HD600 lover, and the mid bass is soooo overwhelming on these. Mids + vocals get swallowed up. I'm disappointed.
