View Full Discussion @CEE_TEE My issue on the double charge is still not resolved yet. moreover, massdrop can’t under declare the value. I had to pay 90 USD of tax just for 300 USD Massdrop plus. That’s crazy.
He said he dealt with the double charge. tax is charged depending on your location. Though 30% tax seems a little high. I don’t know if any location (in the US) that does that. It may include import taxes though.
I’d email him about the double charge though.
But the problem is still not resolved yet. I haven’t got the refund of 92.63 USD. I’ve told the story via support but I did not know whether they fully understand my story because my problem is quite complex in my opinion. So once again, the chronology is like this:
Condition: Paypal balance: 60 USD
I wasn’t charged yet.
- Join the drop of kamlan 50mm f/1.1
- Choose paypal as the payment method (use paypal balance 60 USD and 92.63 from my visa debit card which is connected to my paypal account)
This time I was charged immediately both my paypal and visa debit card. I was confused why, but I feel its okay kaybe its just authorization. And the drop doesn’t ended yet. Condition: paypal balance 0 USD. Visa debit card decreased 92.63 USD (converted in IDR because I have indonesian bank account)
- Cancel the drop
- Rejoin the drop again using the same exact payment method as before
What to do?
- Top up my paypal balance to buy another product.
- When the drop ended, I was charged again in my paypal balance 92.63 USD.
- Told paypal about this and told to wait until 1 full month since the transaction. Which means 16th August. It’s today. And i still see no result.
And I also have the proof lf charge if you don’t believe me.
yes indonesian duty is crazy. So, no hope of buying more than 100 USD from massdrop. Btw, I was also charged by indonesia duty of 80 USD for the kamlan.
Contact both PayPal and Massdrop about the double charge. But it doesn't relate to this drop (or the Massdrop Plus one you mentioned).
The main point of my post was that tax isn't something Massdrop can control. They won't under declare in case the item is lost (during transport) as they'll get a big hit on it (even if insured, since insurance is on the declared cost).
Hey @Stvnar. I talked to CS and it looks like they're just waiting on a response. I'll have them resend it again just in case, but can you check your spam folder to make sure it didn't get lost?

Yup. As you mentioned, this is a bit of a weird one, but it's been escalated up the chain and being worked on. It'll probably take a few days since messing with payment charges are typically slow on the turnaround. Since it's financial it might be a couple business days, so let me know if someone still hasn't gotten back to you with an update by Monday.
