Disappointing Sound Quality Even on Sale
I purchased these during the Black Friday deals for $49, reduced from their typical $149. Even at that price, I wouldn't recommend them. The carrying case is nice, the two cables and even the total of seven pairs of ear tips are a nice addition, but the IEMs themselves are poor for listening. The cables are both braided cables but very plastic, no fabric or nylon sheath around them. These IEMs have fairly low clarity out of the box. Driven through a Magni/Modi Schiit stack, these IEMs have limited clarity in the mids, disappointing base, and highs are almost nonexistent. They honestly sound like music played underwater, or sound similar to a very cheap pair of headphones sold for $10 at checkout. Shockingly disappointing for the retail price listed, surprisingly bad for even the price I got at sale. For comparison I used Moondrop Arias, a $80 retail IEM which had significantly more clarity in mids, punchier base, and detectable highs. Honestly a better listening experience in every way. I am not a fanboy of Moondrop, or make any money off of their sale, but they are half the retail price and in my opinion perform SO much better. Even at the sale these are listed for, I would recommend forking out the extra $30 or seeking reviews on other $50 IEMs. I thought these Planamics would be an upgrade that I got on a good sale, but the result is I have immediately requested a refund.
