Outstanding design, very 'punchy' bass, moderately detailed resolution
I would say the sound quality just about qualifies as 'audiophile' or 'detailed', but you have to accept / get used to the overpowered bass. It's not really 'bassy' in the sense that consumer headphones typically are, it is more a 'punchy' kind of bass that still allows the mids and highs to come through with sufficient detail. But the bass is definitely very present. What is really outstanding about these is the build/ design. The are truly beautiful with the understated black metal/ darkened wood look. I much prefer the 'noir' to the 'classics' aesthetics-wise. They also come with a beautiful case. In terms of detail, they don't really hold a candle to the HD58X, but they're some very fun headphones. If you're looking for the best possible closed-back headphone, I would suggest the DT 177X Go instead, as they have a much better resolution and a much more neutral sound signature. However, as a 'fun' headphone these are great. Like many others here, I enjoy switching headphones from time to time and these are my go-tos if I want bass. The Fostex X00 on Drop fill pretty much the exact same niche (wooden cups, strong bass, fun over reference sound), but they are more expensive and the hinges seem to break from time to time (based on reviews).
