The bass hits you in the face! OK, not exactly. First closed-back headphones I've personally owned and instantly fell in love with. That's not to say I don't like my K7XX, HD 6XX, or HE-4XX, but those did take a bit to break in and are open-back. The 99 Noir is a joy to use with orchestral, metal, orchestral metal, electronic, rock, and just about anything in my library when I want to tune out the world. Loved that I could just put it on my head without worrying about adjusting cups, bands, or cables. It's not squeezing my head or weighing it down either. Remote control button feels kinda cheap and I wish there were 2 more buttons for volume control but at least the single button supports back, forward, and pause/play/answer/end. Also works great with my Note 9 as long as I disable all the trash audio enhancements, and is easily driveable although I am using a Topping D30 via optical in and A30 via 3.5mm out. I can't hear my 38 dB computer fans if there's moderate volume music, which is great. Besides the 99 Noir, my only source of closed-backs are earbuds á la Sony MDR-XB50AP, NuForce EDC3, and 1MORE Quads to a certain degree. For reference, the Quads have a slightly wider image than the 99 Noir but I'll take the 99 Noir on an airplane any day, especially thanks to the carry case. Handle could have been bigger though. However, I still prefer the 6XX and 4XX for gaming due to their wide imaging and clarity. In short, don't bother knocking on my door when I have these cans blasting some dope tunes as I'll be lost in the waves.

JediPeaceWalkerIm really torn if I should get these or some noise canceling deal for travel. Seems like I can totally enjoy these on the plane.

letsfixitinpostFor noise cancelling, I heard that the Sony WH-1000XM3 were one of the top performers all across the board. I only have 1 noise-cancelling headphones (the free AKG N60 with a Note9) and sadly, noise-cancelling is not my jam. That may change if I can get my hands on the Sony cans since I wasn't impressed with the comfort of the on-ear N60's after only 2 hours.
