I don't usually go for closed headphones. And actually still don't know why I ordered these... But I'm lucky I did! From the first seconds I clicked play and turned the volume up I understood what people meant when they said these were FUN to listen to (in addition to looking damn good). Paired them with Grace SDAC and O2 amp (haven't tried with my Little Dot mk II yet). The sound is definitely on the warmer side and has a lot of punch and energy behind. Not my first option for rock or metal (what I mainly listen to) but for EDM and rap these are just so damn good. Don't get me wrong, they are not "bad" for metal but when you come from Grado and AKG type of cans this just doesn't have the same effect. The soundstage is definitely narrower than with open headphones (shocking news right?) but has a good feeling and takes you right in the song. Will definitely not use or recommend these for gaming. Tried these also with the Brainwavz velour pads which took a bit of the warmth and lower end emphasis away and made them sound a bit more even. The swap brought them more in line with my other headphones but that's not why I bought these so I swapped the original pads back on to get the fun Meze signature sound back. Would have liked the normal cable better. Highly recommended!

Other headphones I own: Grado SR325e, HifiMan HE-400, AKG Q701, AKG K7XX and Sennheiser HD 6XX.

TM80Just curious, how do your sennheisers compare to your other headphones? What headphones do you like best for rock/metal?

VeganJoyIn what way do you mean "compare to"? For certaint type of music they are definitely the top choice (mids/vocals are just beautiful). With tubes they are smooooooooth. But I have to admit I don't listen to them that often. For rock/metal I tend to go with Grado which can sound a bit harsh from time to time (depends a lot on the listener and song) but I love how they bring out every single detail out of the song (specially guitars). To me that's the No. 1 pick without a doubt. As a budget system I also have a FiiO E10k and Alessandro MS-1 (with softer than normal L-cush pads from Aliexpress) at work. That combo rocks!

TM80Thanks for the detailed reply! I’m really new to hifi audio, and wanted to get an idea of what headphones other than my 6XX are like. I don’t even have a dac/amp for them, I just drive them straight from my iPhone 🤷‍♂️

VeganJoyWell there are no wrong questions... Since what I wrote is only my opinion it's always good to listen to them yourself. That's the best way to find out what's "your cup of tea". I'd definitely recommend getting an amp. You'll get so much more out of them with an amp. The O2 + SDAC is a solid choice. Or if you want to go more budget test out the newish FiiO K3 or the older E10k.

VeganJoyI'm using the Schiit Modi and Magni for my HD6XX, and it sounded amazing for the price point.

TM80Any idea if the DAC on the LG g8 will bring these to life?

A1tothemaxIf by "bring to life" you mean have enough power to drive them then definitely yes. Just tested and my Samsung S8+ can drive them with a couple of steps of volume to spare. And I have to say it doesn't sound bad at all. A pleasant surprise...

VeganJoyI am in the same situation as yours, new to hifi audio. Ordering a Senn HD 6xx and O2 amp. Thanks for asking the question. It helped me too.

TM80Rock/metal is what Iisten to, mostly. I dint know Grado SR325e is good for that. I have ordered the Sennheiser HD 6XX with the MassDrop O2 amp. Aren't they good for rock/metal, though not as good as Grado? What are your inputs? Thanks.
