So don't go believing you can replace this with the Basic Modifiers kit. In some cases, you can, IF you are 100% certain to have no intention going back to the grey modifiers or keep them. Disclaimer - you'll still very likely need the Basic Modifiers kit - you can't run from it.

It's been ages, but I finally got my UHK (https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com). I did put Canvas on it, and here are some pics. I must say I am quite pleased with the result!
I used a Delete for the 1.5u Backspace (which is close enough), but for the 2.25u Control on the right side my only choices were Enter and Shift. I went with the Enter key because at least it has the same colour as the left Control ;-)
I saw that in the new re-run of Canvas, they now put two 1.75u space bars into the 40s package, so it's now much easier to get both halves of the space bar; I had to buy two packs of Minibars, so now I am left with lots of extra space bars in a variety of sizes. Anyone in need of some smaller space bars?
My sincere hope is, now that UHKs are shipping, in the future some of the keycap sets will include those 1.75u bars, the 1.5u backspace, and 2.25u control. It's easier for same-row caps, but for those sets with sculpted rows, it's even harder, because the 1.5u backspace is Row 1 (you can get a Row 2 with some keysets).
Anyway, enough for today, gotta practice some typing! :-D

Hi everyone,
I wanted to provide context about what has taken place on this drop and what the next steps are for us.
What has taken place?
All keycap orders were shipped to our warehouse ready for fulfillment along with a sample sent to MiTo for a quality check. As many of you know, MiTo and the community were not satisfied with the quality of the dye sublimation work on the Canvas Keycap set, and we ended up holding back the fulfillment of the orders that were in the warehouse.
During this time Yanbo was visiting the factory in China, and he was able to secure a new production run of this drop for the community, provided that the new samples passed the quality check at MiTo’s end.
What is happening now?
As it stands right now, new samples for the Canvas set were shipped to MiTo on Monday, June 19th. I’ve attached images of some samples for the community below.
Once we get an ok on these samples from MiTo, we will do another production run of the Canvas XDA Keycap set.
What are the next steps and timelines?
We know that everyone is curious about timelines and how it will affect the drop. Provided we get the green light from MiTo on the samples, it will take the vendor 50 business days to run the entire production again for all the orders.
We are expecting to get an answer from MiTo by this coming Monday, June 26th. Once we have his feedback, I’ll be sending another update about precise dates and actions required from the community on Tuesday, June 27th.
I hope this provides more clarity to the community as to the process and the happenings in the background. Please wait for our email on June 27th where we’ll list out the precise deliverable timeline.

As a bit of an update, last Friday I received samples of the Text Modifiers, Betas and Icons as well. The prints clearly look much bolder (thicker) than intended, even for Betas and Icons. Something happened when the files got translated to the machines, or prints, I don't know.
Therefore, I spent the past weekend (Sat/Sun) adjusting all of the files and the stroke on every single glyph/symbol, in order to compensate for the thickness that's occurring during the print process. The lines were significantly adjusted and trimmed thinner.
From the prototypes received so far, I can see that the manufacturer seem to be able to achieve thin and delicate lines (bars, dots, accents, etc). It's a matter of adjustments and prototyping until we achieve the vision.
Massdrop agents are currently in China inspecting production and getting new prototypes, making sure we will have a great final product shipped to the warehouse.

MiToI am grateful to Massdrop and MiTo that the decision was to fix the issue (and accept any criticism for delaying the project) rather than just shipping something to customers that was fundamentally flawed. Thanks for accepting the criticism and acting on it. That takes a lot more integrity than just shipping bad product and getting defensive.

Hi everyone,
I’ve synced with MiTo about the samples and after a thorough review of them, he has green-lit the current batch. MiTo will be making a separate post with images that he took to give the community a deeper insight into his process of making sure that his design has actually materialized. In the meantime, I am providing the detailed timeline for everyone below.
As Kunal mentioned in the earlier post, the production will take 50 business days. We are currently looking at mid September for the production to be completed. Factoring in ship time and buffering in other variables, we should have the units out to everyone early October.
However, since FTC rules state that we provide you with a revised ship date that is final, we’ll be sending everyone a form that would require you to opt back into the drop with the revised ship date of October 31, 2017. This has been calculated by us to make sure that we are giving the production and Logistics teams enough buffer. Our Community Support team will be sending an email to everyone in the drop detailing the next steps.
If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button on your transactions page and our Community Support Team will be able to help cancel your order up until it is ready for shipment.

A Tale of Woe
and a cautionary tale for Massdrop.
Update for those TLDR: customs destroyed keys due to massdrop mistake, refund sent, replacement “not possible”, not going to get keys. Help me @YanboWu you‘re my only hope <insert hologram>. CC @MiTo @AveryCorley
I live in the UK, and like everyone else I have been excitedly waiting for these keys.
Tracking (summarised) was as follows: * Oct 5, 2017 6:57PM EDT Posted * Oct 6, 2017 6:05AM ET Secaucus, NJ, US * Oct 6, 2017 11:34AM ET Left on plane to UK * Oct 7, 2017 10:59AM BST Arrive in UK * Oct 8, 2017 10:56AM BST Entered customs * Oct 20, still in customs, no recent updates
So, started to chase. * I called DHL today asking why my parcel was stuck, I assumed I need to pay a charge but have not received a notification. * DHL referred me to a customs broker called CCL, who handle customs charging on behalf of UK Gov Customs. * There was a charge to pay, appox £14, nothing in the grand scheme of things. * Contact details supplied by Massdrop for customs charges was complaints@massdrop.com. * CCL emailed complaints@massdrop.com multiple times requesting payment of customs charge, no response was received. * As per agreement between Massdrop and DHL, goods with unpaid customs duty are destroyed. * CCL DESTROYED THE KEYS.
The reason this happened is because when Massdrop sends a parcel overseas via DHL, they have two choices when booking the parcel delivery and unpaid import charges expire: 1. return to sender and Massdrop pay any handling charges 2. parcel is destroyed
Massdrop chose destruction apparently.
So the keys that we have all been waiting patiently for 10 months and are likely to be never run again due to the manufacturing complexities have been destroyed because Massdrop didn't supply my email address for contact and chose not to respond to customs queries.
Suggestions for improvement: 1. Don't ignore emails sent to complaints@massdrop, or have more people covering if overwhelmed. 2. Use DHL for the entire delivery instead of stopping at the international border. For some reason DHL delivers to UK border then. second carrier takes over, Yodel in this case. If DHL had been used for entire delivery, the parcel would not have left the care of DHL and things might have turned out differently. I would happily pay a bit more to do this, or at least make it an option. 3. Put contact details of the actual person receiving the goods on the parcel for customs charges. Legally speaking, at least in the UK, the person receiving the goods is the importer, not Massdrop. In this case supply my email address not complaints@massdrop.com.
Somewhat disappointed to say the least.
It may be that Massdrop did repond to CCL and some bureaucracy failure happened, but ultimately the contact details should not have been Massdrop, and why the hell is destruction a good choice?

A couple weeks ago I received dyesub samples from the manufacturer with the official typeface used and I’m very pleased with the result! I believe we materialized the vision and the legends look crisp. Again, please disregard the color accuracy of the pictures – they were shot on mobile and I don’t have adequate equipment to capture the colors more accurately than this.
If you want a parameter, the portrait photo (first picture) displays the colors a little more accurately than the other ones. I have the keycaps on my hands and I can tell that the beige is in reality less creamy and the grey is cooler than what me and the camera managed to capture.

If you want a parameter, the portrait photo (first picture) displays the colors a little more accurately than the other ones. I have the keycaps on my hands and I can tell that the beige is in reality less creamy and the grey is cooler than what me and the camera managed to capture.

If those hundreds of people get these updates and photos of the fonts, they might not be happy either. a bigger unhappy crowd could change things, sometimes. But then again, they dont actually have a voice in this lol (not until they receive their orders at least)

Hi All - I have a quick update on the Canvas Keycap Set. According to the latest information from our warehouse, 54% of the keycap sets have shipped and we expect the remaining sets to be shipped by Wednesday (10/25).

AveryCHi Avery, some of my keys are not really printed very well...
The T is way too high. (it looks like all more keys aren't aligned properly to me, but the T looks way off). Also the `~ the :; and >. are too thin (and the latter is printer lower than the <, To me these keys in particular look nothing like the designs I purchased.
Is there any way I could get replacement keys for these?

As a response to you guys that have been raising concerns, I already said in my last update that I understand your feelings. Until today I only received the Alphas kit, sampling and manufacturing is taking longer then expected from what Massdrop told me. More kits should be here by the end of next week.
Upon receiving more kits I will review them and have a better understanding about what's going on with the dyesub. I've only seen the Alphas so far and the result pleased me but if the customers aren't pleased, it must be taken into consideration. I can see the actual final legends being a tiny bit thicker than renders, because of discrepancies and other minor imperfections that naturally occur, but there's an acceptable limit - and I suspect (some new pictures I just received) that the manufacturer is pushing the thickness and spacing too far.
I need to see the modifiers (words legends) in person in order to measure them and conclude what happened once they processed the files, so we adjust accordingly. I will not make calls in the dark hoping that the product will look nice. The typeface was designed specifically for XDA keycaps, to be balanced, nor too thin nor too bold. I'm waiting to receive the kits so the adequate course of action gets taken.
You can rest assured that I will do everything I can to make you satisfied.

I already stated that I'll be making my own renders in the future, at the time these were made by a third party. We've got people in China fixing the keycaps and we are working with the manufacturer to provide the best possible product. What you saw in my pictures are SAMPLES, and we are working to fix them. Thanks for the patience and support, you can be sure it's gonna look great.

I believe you in that you will provide the best keycaps you can, but what baffles me is how bad the first samples look and why you would use renders that are not going to be accurate without a disclaimer about it. Most people use the renders as the guide when deciding whether to invest in a keyset and thus its correctness should be given a very high priority. Stating after the fact that your renders are not to be trusted (" renders will never be 100% accurate ") seems just silly.
Colors, shapes and sizes can all be matched at accuracy higher that what the human senses can differentiate. The only problem that can happen in the matching process is that the render could be, by design, impossible to replicate using the production techniques you have chosen. For example too thin lines for double shot process etc. You, as a designer, are responsible of knowing the limits of manufacturing processes and thus creating a design that is possible to replicate, doing it any other way is just emitting false promises.
Many production houses have samples you can order which show the limits of their production capability. Not using such assets is a bit baffling to me.
Best of luck trying to accomplish what your renders have promised!

Hey everyone,
We’re back with another update on the XDA Canvas. We’ve completed quality control checks and will be fulfilling all orders, with the exception of the micon kits, during the week of December 7.
With the micon kits, we found an issue with the legend on the ALT key, and we are having those remade to accurately reflect the renders. We expect these to ship the week of December 17.
Due to the additional delay from our last estimate, we’ve credited everyone’s account with a $10 coupon, which will automatically apply to the next drop you join and expires on June 1, 2019.
We apologize again for the additional delay. It’s our goal to deliver the highest quality product, and we appreciate your patience as we get these completed and shipped out.

I do understand what you say, but problem is that delays are getting extended more and more... the pinned post says everything should be shipped by today, which is simply not true because my item is not... Personally, this attitude pisses me off more than the fact that there was some delay...
