Can someone explain how to order? This keyboard stuff is new to me, I just know that I want one. I see there is a base kit + a child kit. I'm trying to get close to a 87 key ANSI keyboard. So I order the cyberdeck base kit only? It looks like the child child kits are for other keyboard layouts or special keys. This order is just for the keycap set and I have to procure a keyboard with no keycaps seperately? How/where?

Yes, for an 87 key ANSI keyboard (and almost literally every other mechanical keyboard) you'll need the Cyberdeck kit only.
The other kits are merely decorative, extra looks and extra keycaps for enthusiasts.
You'll also need to look for an actual mechanical keyboard, this drop right here only offers the keycaps you see in the drop page. There are several mechanical keyboard to pick from, here on Massdrop and other websites as well such as KBDFans, etc.
Either way, whatever keyboard you're gonna go with, you'll probably need the Cyberdeck kit and that only.
Let me know if this makes sense to you or not, my pleasure to help and introduce you to this crazy world of ours!

discThe base kit (Cyberdeck) is enough to cover 1 full-size US ANSI keyboard. You need a keyboard with "cherry mx" compatible switches. You can search on Amazon, there are tons available. The keyboard will come with the manufacturer's keycaps but they can be easily removed with a "keycap puller" to fit new keys. If you want to maximize compatibility with keysets in general, get a full-size or "tenkeyless" keyboard with a standard bottom row, which means all the modifier keys on the row with the spacebar are the same width (1.25 units wide). Much more info can be found on the Reddit mechanicalkeyboards subreddit.

discYou might also check out mechanicalkeyboards.com for a huge catalog of keyboards. You can buy a keyboard with keycaps already installed and simply replace them with the keycaps in this drop. However, WASDkeyboards sells keyboards called "barebones" that don't have keycaps on them if you'd like to take that route.

discThe creator of this keyboard set replied to you with some thoughtful words. Please don't be shy to ask him any question. A lot of keys are simply decorative. Think of GMK (the producer of these keys) as Lego, we are Lego nerds haha. Have a great day disc
