The Big Question: How does this compare with AEON Flow Closed in terms of sound quality ?

sigmoniusMy very early impressions are that they are very similar tonally, with the Ether CX being a little more mid forward which makes it sound notably "smoother." The Ether CX is noticeably more spacious and dynamic. The size of the sound reminds me of my LCD2C. The impressive dynamics give this headphone the fun edge that AEON achieves with a slightly more V-shaped frequency response. It'll take time for me to appreciate the other technicalities of the headphone as nothing is really standing out in terms of speed or resolution, at least compared to AEON. The Ether CX is much more comfortable. The pads have softer foam and a larger surface area which makes it feel less clampy despite having the same headband as AEON. Weight and isolation seem about the same. Both are great headphones and I'm glad to have both, one at work and one at home.

verifonixThe Ether CX will be joining my Focal Elegia and Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd gen at work and the AEON will be staying at home, where I don't have as strong of a need for closed cans.

iamjamestlI'd be interested to hear your impressions vs Elegias. Those are my work cans now, and I'm smitten with them. My Ether CX will arrive on Monday. :-)

iamjamestlWow, just based on looks I'm really glad I went with the CX instead of the Elegia. The CX looks so minimal, understated, and small compared to the Elegia... Smaller headband, smaller driver frame, no two-tone "bling", and much more subtle branding. Granted I'm an Ether Flow Open owner, but I really prefer the clean look of the CX. Definitely looking forward to getting mine Monday!

iamjamestlThose pads look very luscious and comfortable. What do you think of them?
