I was absolutely stunned when I first tried the Ether C but I was hindered by the yet affordable price tag. Then a few weeks later, I saw this drop and I joined without hesitation. I cannot express how excited I was upon receiving these. Admittedly, I was a little disappointed with the box but you know, simplicity at this stage might imply that they devoted much more work into the craft of the headphones. it's what's inside that matters. There are 6 tuning pads, an XLR cable and 2 adapters and an Ether CX with serial number 0178. I was hoping for a number below 50 since I think I was one of the first to join but that's mostly of sentimental values. My set up is the ones I used to pair with Beyerdynamic T1 and Sennheiser 6XX, which are Wadia 121 DAC to Harmony Design Ear 909 Solid State Amp. Upon first impression these headphones are comfortable to wear even for two hours of use. I was impressed with the soundstage and the details they present in the background, although it is a little messy when dealing with too much information, like certain symphonies. That being said, I am not a basshead in any case but I do think they lack that bounce and depth. Changing to the two-notch white foam helped a little. Another issue is that I feel the vocals are too far away and the accompaniments kinda upstage the vocal in some music. However, with enough burn in, I can see them excel in music with a lot of details, like strings quartet and chamber music. I also would like to try them with tube amps, which I think can complement the sound signature of these gems. Overall, I think they have huge potentials and time will prove their worth.

Gareth_YaoCongrats. My number is 0010. To bring the vocals forward I have ordered the angled pads from Mr Speakers, also suggest the headphone connectors for DIY cable, as they are very good in price 6,99$. Still need more time to listen, and will put my thoughts here. Brief impression: this is exactly what I tried to achieve in my turning mod of Fostex T50 RP My other gears: Sennh HD800S, 660S, 6XX,58X,37X. AKG 7XX, Q701; Sony MDRZ7, 950BT, Beyer 1990 pro, Amrion wireless; Focal Elex, Fostex TH00X ebony, T50RP, Argon MK3, T60, Audeze LCDX, LCD2C, Monoprice 1060C, 560, Philips Fidelio X2 and MrSpeakers Ether CX

HIFI778Thanks my friend. I am little bit old for Youtube. Headphones and stereo are side effects of my hobby. I am mostly in contact with different manufactures in research departments as consultant. Regards, Kim

kimdeugI have the 6xx. In your opinion do you think that these headphones are 800 dollars better ? Also, with all the different headphones you have tried, is there a perspective that you have learned in the process of trying so many different and similar style headphones.

NewType88Hi. Thanks for asking. Of cause, you will not get 4 times better performance, compare CX to 6XX. I am a big fun of Sennheiser 6 series, and have been looking long time for some planars with the same mid-forwarded characteristics, on top of all other superiority planars can provide. Even tried to modify my Fostex T50RP to the similar profile (actually 3 of them before). Also, have bought Argon MK3 to look, what Ryan has done inside. But CX easily over-exceeded all my ''wishes'' which tried to achieve by modding Fostex T50RP. It is hard to compare planars vs dynamic headphones, but definitely CX is a step up from 6XX to the higher category. I have few comments on the other post about CX, you can read there. kimdeugOk, cool. Thanks for the response, I read the link as well. Got 2 more questions. In Regards to bass, does the HD800 series have the same type of bass delivery and feel as the HD6xx. ? If you had to choose just one headphone for every type of music you listen to, what would it be ?

CitylionEther CX is more neutral, LCD-X is more energetic with deeper bass and extended trebles, mids on LCD-X are more forwarded, which I like a lot. Either CX in opposite is very well balanced and deliver the music in very gentle way. Some people will find Either CX it too boring and neutral, but I like this uncolored sound with excellent resolution. It is my second/backup pair for monitoring after Beyer 1990pro. After long listening I have treble fatigue with 1990pro, so, I am swapping to Either CX and continue to work.
