If you're new to raw denim, or are not familiar with Naked & Famous' fits, this is for you. You'll want to use the "Weird Guy Fit" instead of "Ichiban Selvage" as your reference fit if you need to look up fit comparisons, (it's even better if you could try them on.) Weird Guy Fit is slim from the thigh down with a taper in the lower leg for a really comfortable slim-but-not-skinny cut & is flattering for the lean athletic types. My Weird Guy's are the most comfortable pair of denim I own. Two years running, no crotch blowouts with 3-5 days a week wear, & my fades came out nice enough that I can still wear them as business casual.

Beware lifters - Weird Guy Fit may restrict movement by being too slim in all the areas of the leg, crotch, & butt/glutes areas.
TL;DR The Weird Guy Fit is the most reliable, "Not-spray-paint-on-skinny-But-still-slim-and-flattering" cut. My body size is 5'10" 160 lbs., I swim regularly, & run a couple 5K's each week. The following should be taken with a grain of salt, as it compares the Weird Guy Fit to two other popular denim fits.
APC - New Standard & Petite New Standard Fit: New Standards are a skinnier jean in the lower leg & have less room in the seat & waist, though they share Weird Guy Fit's room in the thigh. If you have skinnier legs & no glutes, then these are a decent consideration for fit, but have a spandex-ey "stretch" to them - watch out, (my butt/glutes looks like I'm wearing leggings.) Even with that stretch though, they are very soft & I've actually found them durable because of that. TL;DR I treat my Petite New Standards as street-wear. APC New Standards / Petite New Standards don't fit well in business-casual environments unless you're a twig & I'm less likely to wear them on a night out vs. my Weird Guy Fit unless I want to make sure I'm ID'd every single time I walk up to the bar.
Unbranded - Tapered, UB201 Fit: While the Weird Guy Fit are a great fit for the office, Unbranded's Tapered Fit UB201 is a 14.5 oz. durable Jean that is the ultimate pair of work jeans. While the UB201's & Weird Guy Fit have the same room in the thigh, the UB201's are a heftier pair of pants, they have a larger seat / more room in the crotch, & have less of a tapered bottom leg compared to the Weird Guy Fit. The UB201's also start off much stiffer because of their weight to break-in, which I found great for trips through the great outdoors. Though the Unbranded pair took longer to break-in & aren't as soft, they are MUCH more durable than my Weird Guy's. TL;DR For those under 6 foot & not leg-day lifters; Unbranded's break-in process is more uncomfortable due to the higher waist, as they really dug into my hips - you will not find stretch here. TL;DR For those over 6 foot & bodybuilders; I still swear on the Weird Guy Fit for taller guys too, but Unbranded has better scaling & SPECIFICALLY has fits for althetes, dedicated lifters, and bodybuilders. Taller guys will have a more comfortable break-in than us shorter folks with Unbranded, but beware the stiffness.
I'd really like to know if this was helpful or not - feedback is always appreciated.

perfectd3I did read it but I feel like I am stuck because I am unsure which one. Big thighs, thick calves, rear is something and then 32" waist. 6' 175lbs to 185 flux.

BrainFlush@BrainFlush - Sounds like a tight spot. From my experience, if I know I'm going to be doing DIY/handyman work, I opt in for my Unbranded. When I fly for business, I need more flexibility to bend into tighter plane spaces & handle my bags, so I opt in for my Unbranded. There are times that the Weird Guy's doesn't have enough room for my thighs at odd angles, or for my dress shirts to stay put, and as a result they can be either uncomfortable or awkward. I just have to deal with the stiffness of the cloth, rather than there not being enough.
The challenge with fit pics, (especially for Jeans.) When mostly everyone is dressing in an attempt to streamline their body's physique, or hide features that they don't want seen, "Slim" can look baggy on a guy who's 5'6" / 120 lbs. who's never ran cross country before vs. an athletic or active guy who's 6' / 180 lbs who works our regularly. The perspectives might not translate for all of us & a good fit on one body might end up being too tight on more developed legs. Bodybuilder or athletic fit pics might translate for you more than streetwear examples. For me, muscles scale better in perspective vs. lack of muscles, regardless of height/weight.
If you can; order a pair of Unbranded from a store with free returns - just to see how they fit before the Massdrop payment hits. If they're too loose, return them & opt in for the Weird Guy. If the Unbranded is comfortable on your legs, then I STILL recommend ordering a Weird Guy Fit pair from another retailer who can do free returns & try the same thing because they are SO comfortable after breaking them in.
Good luck!

perfectd3I really appreciate your response. Even the first post.
I am actually only here because I saw it was a MD crossover and the name and indigo and decent quality for the price etc. :D
That being said, I guess I was mistaken when I asked my question as I thought you were only talking about the two choices of fit/cuts here, which don't exist (cut) but in my head. Damn that was long.
I will probably get these. Just because.

perfectd3What size of the Weird Guy Fit do you wear? I'm the same height, weight, and am also an athletic build.

SmokinpandaHey there Panda - I was actually wrong, I ordered mine in 32. I would recommend getting that if you're confident you normally wear a 32, I might have ordered a different pair in 31's though.
