Hey all, I usually wear Levi's 511 size 32-33. Anyone know how these compare? Tape measure on waist says 35. Also, I'm definitely gonna have to alter the inseam. Will that ruin the craftsmanship on the hem? Thanks, appreciate any advice.

OnesThe measure of your jeans waist or actual body waist? Base sizing on your best fitting jeans. Also, measure the pants rise and see how it differs from the measure on the Ichiban. Difference in pants rise since will change where your pants sit (waist vs hip) and might change the pants-waist size you need.
A good tailor can lockstitch hem your jeans, however, I'd advise against getting jeans altered in any other way by your local tailor. Aside from a basic hem, they won't be well-equipped to work with denim and unwilling to alter from the inseam. I usually send my jeans to a specialty shop for alterations, since they are equipped with the hardware and know-how and are willing to jump through the hoops to preserve the integrity of the construction.
