View Full Discussion Dms3tv just put up his review of these x NuForce EDC
I agree for the most part of this review however I wouldn't say the highs are slightly veiled. Veiled would indicate that the highs are somehow masked in some way. Slightly rolled off would be a better way to describe it. However this is not a bad thing especially for people sensitive to sibilance.
There are two sound profiles on these earphones most guys will probably not know or understand. The stock tips both the silicones and foams will have a N curve sound profile. Meaning the highs are lesser with more mid bass in relation to sound balance. Guys that listen to a lot of hip hop EDM and bass driven music might enjoy the stock sound profile.. But with a simple tip mod it becomes a higher end sounding phone. This tip mod requires a stock tip fit onto the nozzle of the EDC backwards. This creates a cone to the inner ear. Then a much wider tip on top of that. I am using JVC spiral dot tips.
Side note message to MassDrop. ( You guys gotta get some JVC Spiral Dots for sale already ) IMHO the best silicone tips in existence.
An easy tip rolling does the one thing I think most will appreciate and that is bring up the highs and lower the mid bass. A wider bored tip mod will change the sound profile from the N to a much better balance and more even sound profile. This creates a much better more natural tonality to sound as well as it lessons the mid bass a few dbs which also tightens the bass end. This tip mod right here.
Just put together this mod today. It really makes a huge difference to the sound. I cut the silicon flange of the rolled tip down to the plastic tube of the monitor. I think this opened up the sound even more.
