Do the improvement in thee justify the $40 price difference over the regular EDC? (Also the long shipping delay)

Tldr; probably yes.
Generally, separate drivers give you a distinct improvement in clarity.
Physically, the speaker interferes with itself when it tries to produce high and low frequency vibrations at the same time. The additional drivers reduce this.
That said, every iem is different and everybody values their dollars differently. I'm gonna give it a shot!

They are different, the EDC original has a single dynamic driver. This is because balanced armatures are tricky to tune to an entire frequency range and so often multiples are used to emphasis or fill out that low and mid range. I would personally go for this the triple balanced, I have had lots of experience with both balanced armatures and dynamics, finding that balanced armatures when done like this create a much more neutral sound signature, and I really think that's what they are going for.

Thanks, I'll probably sleep on it and see how I feel about it then.
