Any idea on how much these would benefit from a DAC/AMP? I currently use the Schiit stack (Modi/Magni 2).
They wouldn't benefit at all. BA drivers are extremely power-sensitive and you barely need any power to drive them.
The output impedance of the amp might alter the sound a bit though.
That's not inherently true. I can for a fact say a quad driver BA like the Shure 846 sound very different out of my phone, laptop, Yamaha receiver and my nano BL amp/dac. Impedance plays a part but how that signal is being amped and processed is just as important, if not more so.
@frostfiree Your stack should be good with these on low gain. If anything, it should help with imaging, soundstage, and dynamics compared to running straight out of a phone or laptop. That's normally what I notice the most when using my amp/dac.
Any good transparent amp will sound the same, assuming the output impedance is the same. There is absolutely no reason to go out and buy a powerful amp for these if you already have a decent audio source.
That wasn't the question nor my response. They asked if these IEMs would benefit. And multi-BA IEMs tend to benefit as crossovers and tuning (as well as other factors) are different. Second, they stated they already have a stack in which I indicated their stack would be sufficient. No one mentioned additional or more expensive equipment. You brought that up all on your own.
What I meant to say is that it won't benefit the IEMs over a cheaper, decent amp.
