Can anyone give me a comparison between Shure SE215 and the EDC3? I have SE215 but I need to buy a new cable soon. I'm trying to make this seem worth it, considering it comes with two cables, as opposed to buying a new SE215 cable!

witchfynder33I'd like to have this exact comparison, too. My SE215 is on its 7th year but the housings are starting to disintegrate. I've just glued the seams to reinforce the cracked parts. It still sounds excellent and works well, but yeah, I think its going to get wrecked soon; maybe in a year or so.
I'd like to know how the EDC3 sounds when compared to the SE215. Also, is the level of noise isolation the same more or less?

jtgacoustics@jtgacoustics @witchfynder33 I don't have the EDC3 but I have the PX which is similarly priced to SE215 RRP and the PX detail retrieval and clarity blows a relatively muddy SE215 out of the water, at the expense of slightly less warmth. Brainwavz B100 is something that might be up your alley too.

gemmoglockThanks for the comparison. This gives me a rough idea on how the SE215 would compare vs. the newer IEMs of the same price range. This means that the EDC3 should be better than the SE215.

jtgacousticsQuite likely, although jury is still out on whether the sound is your cup of tea. The SE215 has a nice warm tone which some find it hard to move away from :) Personally though the muddiness was a bit too much for my liking so that wasn't an issue. I would note that PX is less warm and more bright, compared to the B100.

gemmoglockWith the stock tips, I would agree that the SE215 would be a bit muddy. But after upgrading to triple-flange tips, I've noticed that the details are improved. Though the thing with the SE215 is that the highs are cutoff.
