Will my lighting port be able to power these headphones or will I need to use an amplifier?

You should be fine without an amplifier. However, if you use an amp the EDC3 is transparent enough to show the differences between amps and amp or no amp.

So does the EDC3 sound better with an amplifier? For me, this is my entry into the audiophile space and I wonder if my experience would be significantly enhanced with a headphone amplifier and/or DACs. My use case would be to use this on my OnePlus 5 and PC. I may be able to budget out an amp/DAC combo in the future and I wonder if I should add it to my monthly budget considerations.

Yes the EDC3 will sound better with an amplifier. It will also show the differences between good and bad amplifiers.

Jyri, do you offer separately a lightning cable for these IEMs or can you recommend a cable (don’t want to use Apple’s adapter)?

We don't offer but Noble lighting cable should work. Massdrop has been selling it before.

Yeah but then again, you might end up buying an amp or DAC/amp combo only to find out your ears can't tell the difference. So start with something reasonably priced :)
