Very tempting for me office, but doesn't look like it will drive my headphones.

rsnyder6Got a sample unit, testing and convalescing thoughts for a review. Questions like yours help! So far, no complaints with my 300 Ω Sennheiser HD 650 or HD 800. I’m going to try out the speaker taps connected to my Stax energizer/adapter too, at some point, but the amp very quickly won the heart of my entertainment center and replaced my Yamaha AVR. Having too much fun with my 8 Ω Chane bookshelf speakers and subwoofer.
Let me know if you think of other specific questions.

EvshrugThanks for the info. This would have to drive 2000Ω HD 424s.
Yes, I know they are old, but that's the phones that I use in the room it would be in. :)

rsnyder6Wow, what sweet classics! I don’t have them on hand to test out for you, to both our regret. I do have some 1970’s Stax SR-X mk lll with a transformer for connecting to speaker taps, eventually I’ll get those hooked up.
if I found the chance to demo a pair of HD 424 some day, do you have any recommendations for how to best enjoy them? Haha!

EvshrugVery sweet sounding. Not base heavy monsters, but solo acoustic to full orchestral sounds great. My first listening on them was to The Who. (I still remember putting on Tommy LPs.)
They just sound musical. But can be hard for some amps to drive. My 70 watt tube amp was a nice fit, but that needs rebuilding.
