TelFiREThe $99.99 MSRP is completely made up. If massdrop is the manufacturer and massdrop is the only distributor, then the MSRP is the same as the price charged. It's got nothing to do with economies of scale. So please stop using words you don't understand.
_megapixel Massdrop is the manufacturer, so yeah, they get to "make up" the MSRP. That's how MSRPs work.
And no, I'm not using a term I don't understand... Economies of scale: A proportionate saving in costs gained by an increased level of production
For you and the other preschoolers in this comment section, that means you get shit for cheaper when you make more of it because you can split the production costs that don't change no matter how many you make among more people. I know this is hard for you to wrap your underdeveloped mind around, but try.
TelFiREIf you look at most of my replies.
I use layman terms and keep it simple.
KISS because most are that last S.
1 or 2 syllables is usually enough. :D
grokitIt's not a mass manufactured product. The price is extremely unlikely to ever come down, in fact, it's quite possible it will never be available again. Maybe it will run again, but who knows when.
Also, RAMA has a lot of fans in the mech keyboard community. I wouldn't be surprised if the aftermarket price is higher.
TelFiREYes, for those that want it they will have their limited edition product. If they tried to make them en masse, the price would surely come down. I can get a great quality spinner with perfect 5-star reviews that spins for five full minutes on Amazon for $10 shipped. You'd have to be a fanboi of RAMA to drop this kind of change on this particular product, and it sounds like they have their fans. But that's not me as I require tangible value.
grokitThere is literally no tangible value in any spinner, full stop. Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds? Talking about "value" with regard to something like this? lmao
TelFiREI was providing a counter point, now you're just contradicting yourself. If the aftermarket price indeed goes higher, it will have tangible investment value duh. I just don't think it will. I would pay $10 for a top-quality spinner to use it though, not to sit on it as an investment. Good luck with that!
grokitOkay I don't understand why people keep starting this shit over and over again.
It's not about fanboy-ism, it is about supporting someone whose work you admire - that's how businesses thrive as I'd assume you're aware, he's made stuff tons of people like in the keyboard community already during the small time he's been around, he has a bunch of projects he wants to make good on and, as enthusiasts that want to see that happen, we buy stuff like a spinner for $50 to make it happen.
Although your first statement was moot (and most likely innacurate), you say you were providing a counter argument which you have managed to do to a certain extent but it's still pretty much irrelevant - these won't be made en masse, this sort of product is not about "tangible value", as @TelFiRE said we're talking about some shit that spins here, let's not kid ourselves. The selling points here reside elsewhere, this isn't trying to be a better spinner than your $10 Amazon contender, it's trying to be something else and succeeding at it quite handily.
Some people pay for efficiency, some people pay for eye candy, some people are all about price:performance, who gives a shit. Talking about investment value on something like this is just beyond outworldly.
VigrithEnjoy your $50 purchase. I think it's a waste of money so we disagree. It might have been worth it if it had better materials like titanium instead of aluminum, but there I go again talking about value what a PITA :) !
grokitWell that's awkward, that wasn't even me responding to that - goes for showing you are a little uneasy.
Either way, and putting the subject to rest, the difference here and the point I was trying to make is that people can agree to disagree without being upset and condescending of the other party; you can evade all you want and say "no you attacked me" all you want but deep down you must be aware that you're being snide and (unsuccessfully) trying to be hurtful. As can be seen here, ipsis verbis:
"Enjoy your $50 purchase." ; "but there I go again talking about value what a PITA :) !"
Both of those statements are you just trying to be sneaky and take ridiculous jabs and putting yourself on a high horse because you feel like your "value" puts your above plebeians such as myself. I have no problem with your arguments and/or your mentality, I have a problem with you being a cunt about it.
grokitI never used the term "butthurt", can you please read user names and understand the fact that @vaisas is not me.
Lastly, I just rather be upfront about my dislike of someone's actions or assertions, I figured if you're trying to be sly and passive aggressive in every single post you make then I have no need to pretend to be nice.
grokitMy first of many ignorant comments.
Here is my KB, value is unknown because I buy everything I can get my hands on.

Not bragging, yes I am.
Point is, some I paid nothing for, and they might be worth lots.
Perfect example.
Some caps are by unknown makers, suddenly they are worth hundreds.
Same happens here.
I paid more for a key cap then this spinner, and you broke F's are complaining.
If only you saw my monthly bank statements
I spend more money per minute then some spend per day.
I am broke.
If you aren't at my level, you obviously choose the wrong career.
But, you can express your opinion, just know, most of us devalue it immediately.
I spent years buying runway clothing, money wasted.
I bought comics, and cards, money wasted.
The one thing I neglected all these years, Keyboards and my hands.
So I buy for them now.
Get over it, like seriously, get rich or die. No trying.
BrainFlushThough your allegory is probably not going to have the desired effect here, nice trass & lavas! I was going to get a second one too but they'd sold out by the time, shame.
I honestly think I've chosen the wrong career some times; I spent half a year teaching English to 6 year olds in Liechtenstein during my masters and I've found that a myriad of presumably grown up individuals on the internet are 10, 100, 1000 times more insolent and unmannerly than those kids were. It blows my mind to the point where I think I'd have loved to have been a shrink of some sort instead, there must be so much buried deep down for such disdain of others to surface; I don't think there's anything I'd like to learn about than that.
Some dude told me he hopes I'm inside of a store that gets shot up over on Geekhack because I was laying into him after he kept calling people at Jellykey idiots and shit complaining that he missed a FCFS sale. I'd LOVE to understand what goes on inside people's minds when they have such crazy reactions to the simplest of disagreements that they themselves start; do they find themselves so smart that expect everyone to agree with them and live happily ever after? Do they feel entitled because there are (supposedly) no consequences for their actions over the internet?
