Holy Freaking Cow! While I was typing my last message, our Postal Carrier drove by with goodies. So my lovely wife brought in the freshly delivered Kong 608to188 adapter, that I ordered as a Hail Mary to try saving my Remedy from becoming a $50 paperweight. But now, it was minutes away from becoming a $75 paperweight. So, with a little hope, and one of those little Charly Brown clouds of discouragement hanging overhead, I started breaking everything down again.
After backing out the Remedy grub screws yet one more time, I reach for the tiny tin containing Kong. Yeah, sounded funny to me too. π Anyway, I grab the tiny Kong, give it a flick, and........deflation. I'm now totally bummed. This thing doesn't even spin, no sense bothering to take the time working with the Remedy. So I go to set the Kong down, but take one last look before I do, and......it's spinning!!.! And has been this whole time I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself. It was just so smooth and quiet, I didn't even realize. Wow! May I say WOW again?
So into the Remedy it goes. And the irony is not lost on me that the Kong is the Remedy for a Giant angry gorilla of a product. π Because of the loose tolerance issues I'be had, I took my time making sure the thing was as level as possible, and the grub screws as equal as humanly possible.
I can now say that this new hybrid , or should I say, RemeKong, is the smoothest, longest spinning thing I have ever had. So this is at least one solution. Maybe Massdrop could work up a deal with FidgetHQ for a free, or nominal cost to Remedy buyers and put this thing to bed.
I'm an OCD fidgeter, and don't usually have the patience to table spin and stare. But do occasionally to benchmark and/or compare one to another. But this new buildup screamed to be tested. Within minutes of having the grub screws snugged in, I set it down for one, and one only spin for the timer. My phone still had the times of the original build, when I was trying to convince myself that this hunk of brass wasn't as bad as it seemed. The pic below shows my best spins with the original bearing? And my one and only spin with the Kong. The pic tells the rest of the story. Yeah, that's right. Unadulterated!
