Key words are " over 20 years" another word patent expired time to bootleg! Will here's the dilemma, with S30V or better, for around$125-$150 in mind, you can pick up a Benchmade that's got the lock, S30V blade but most importantly for extra $14 compared to this $109 knife, with Benchmade you'll get free life time service on the knife especially the most discussed spring and free cleaning and sharpening for life…! By no way I'm a brand loyalist to Benchmade, I also own Kershaw, CRKT, Cold Steel, SOG, Buck, etc…biggest concern for me on buying a knife is the knife have to be "Made in USA" just like all my automatic watches they have to be "Swiss Made" So $14 more! For me? Benchmade all day long!!!

KamikazinycI'm not sure I follow all of this, but in case you missed it: This knife is made by Millit (located in Meridian, Idaho, USA), which offers their standard warranty and service on all parts - including the spring.

JonasHeinemanTo my understanding that is correct but the initial customer service contact would be Massdrop to handle the issue if not mistaken.

OregonstanNeed to be careful here. I purchased a Massdrop Gent on the secondary market and tried to get a replacement pivot screw with the expectation that I would pay for the part. I have subsequently learned that the Massdrop warranty applies to the original owner only and they have no way to provide replacemnet parts outside of the warranty. I contacted WE Knives and they told me they do not support the massdrop knives directly - I need to work directly with Massdrop. So it seems that if you are not covered by the warranty (need to be original owner with a manufacturing defect) you are out of luck if something goes wrong. Makes me rethink my participation in the Perpetua drop - if I sell the knife and the omega spring breaks (which it likely will over time) the new owner will have a very nice paperweight. Massdrop need to rethink their customer support strategy if they are going to continue to bring Massdrop branded knives to the market.

kpu1012Were you able to send them the knife for repair? I was looking at the gent and waiting for another drop for it. Hopefully you didn't lose too much on it. What was wrong with the pivot? Want to sell the one you have? Depending on what was wrong with it though.

OregonstanMassdrop refused to provide any level of service on my MD Gen including refusing to sell replacement parts. I was able to get the knife back in perfect working condition but the pivot screw is somewhat stripped but still works. You should know that the pivot screw is a simple philips and not torx - seems like a bad place to save a few cents. Not interested in selling at this point. Really nice knife and awesome action. I just hope MD gets their act together on supporting their branded products.

kpu1012That's why go with Benchmade, when you send the knife in for sharpening service, there's no questions asked! If it's a real Benchmade, if not, you'll never get your bootleg back, they'll just throw it out! Regardless 2nd or 3rd owner, they'll always stand behind their products…

Kamikazinyc$14 more for cheap plastic scales that feel loose and creaky the first time you use it for anything more than just pulling it out of your pocket and flipping it open? Yeah, no thanks. And I say that as a fan of the Grip. But every single one of mine have aftermarket scales which add way more than $14 to the cost. (My titanium Wilkins grip cost me $250 not including the knife, and it was used)

Vostok_7No sure why your scales came off, if it's not due to miss use they'll fix it. Obviously you love the knife that are why you would drop $250 on some titanium! If I wanted better scales I'll just buy one with better material…my carbon fiber Nakamura that I'd paid $350 for went through some tuff stuff, zero problem!

Vostok_7Not advocating one way or another but you can get the grip and mini grip in g10 scales and cpm20cv steel but it will cost around $160. If you want to really pick and choose, they have many options in their custom shop.

KamikazinycI know Benchmade makes great knives but personally I enjoy buying a new knife that was never made before just for the novelty of it. I enjoy trying out new things rather than just going with whatever everyone else says is the best. (Personal opinion.)

KamikazinycI haven’t joined this drop. I have been reading through some of the discussion. Remember, when you people keep comparing this knife to a benchmade or Spyderco. Those companies are huge and can produce high end knives for a cheaper price because of the Manufacturing they have in place. This knife is a limited production. Its a collaboration. Take it for what it is. Everyone knowa, they can buy X KNIFE FOR Y price.

kpu1012You can make your own Omega spring out of guitar string, as many folks have done. The omega spring breaks tend to have two causes: excessive fidgeting/flicking by the user, and spring pockets that were milled too shallow causing the spring to wear thin and break. The latter is a manufacturer defect, so should be covered. The second... only the user can fix that.

King_benny55Not that I'm disagreeing, but Spyderco is a small company. Google tells me there are 83 employees. Bigger than Millit knives for sure, but they definitely aren't "huge". A better example would be Kai.

KamikazinycLike all of the big names in cutlery, Spyderco stands behind their products. Benchmade isn't special in that regard. Spyderco's small size is a conscious decision by Sal and his family.
