These headphones are now my favorite - ever! They are superb! Best sound quality of any I have ever owned. My previous experience was with noisecancelling Bose quietcomfort 2. I thought those were wonderfull but these headphones are a whole other level.
Quality of materials: I like the gloss black plastic headband. The quality of the mesh both inside and out are first rate metal screens that protect the drivers well.
Comfort: At first they clamped tightly, but I have worked to loosen them up and now are quite comfortable. The pads are great and I've gotten used to them and the pressure in less than a day.
Sound quality: absolutely superb. I find myself gravitating to these over the Bose or speaker because of the detail they reveal. In my opinion they are very flat and true to the sound which is what I wanted. The sound stage is much improved for me as I feel like I can tell apart the different instruments to a greater degree. The separation is perfect. Not too unaturally wide but not narrow either. Highs are right on target, not emphasized nor under. Bass is good too with the same description. I don't like headphones that amp up the bass unnaturally. These don't. My enthusiasm is evident, I'll bet. A definite upgrade to my listening pleasure. And for $149 dollars! Well done Massdrop and Sennheiser. Very well done.

franksjHi Franksj,l see in your review that your previous audio experience was with a Bose quietcomfort 2. Are you referring to the qc25?? Because that's what I have and I didn't yet hear my 58x. secondly if u were referring to the qc25, how would you compare the soundstage between the 2?? Because on the Bose the soundstage is very good, and that's what I like, good soundstage separation.

Mendy770Hi! Sorry for the delay. No, my Bose headphones are the Quiet Comfort 2's from way back in 2003. They were (and are) fantastic with a nice soundstage. Not surprised if the QC25 do too since they are descendents of the earlier QC iterations. To your question, how do the soundstages compare. Very similar. The Bose product (like many of theirs) has some extra sonic magic applied, whereas the 58X seems more lifelike and true to the music. Like both but mainly use my QC2 for travel and the beautiful silence they give.
