The price to quality ratio is the best thing about this product. I say this both to entice you to buy and warn you in the case that you do.... Let me explain: I find that the quality is impressive but only when compared to its price point. This is to say that, in my opinion, the quality doesn't necessarily stand on its own. These are a fantastic pair of budget headphones but I did not like the sound signature, personally. The bass was overcompensated. In comparison to my HD 6XX headphones, it sounds muddled and overbearing. That being said, the highs are wonderfully crisp and the mids are nice and clean. If not for the bass, I wouldn't hesitate recommending these headphones. However, considering that I found the bass to be domineering, and the fact that I am far more satisfied with my HD 6XX headphones, I would recommend saving another $50 and investing in the HD 6XXs instead.

MissFangsRemoving the rear foam doesn't do much for the low end, but there is a very simple mod that involves taping a piece of felt over the magnet of the driver and that slightly brings down the bass making them less muddy and dark. The end result is more balanced and natural in my opinion. Search diyaudioheaven and the mod description is found in the pdf with the full review and measurements.

MissFangsYes, the bass is not quite as precise as the 600 or 620, but the bass on the 58x Jubilee does extend LOWER than either of those other two. I found with just a little EQ reduction at 65-50hz, maybe -1.5 dbs, the bass becomes much more natural and the sub-bass is still present. The sub-bass frequencies are what help create the illusion of listening to full size speaker cabinets (not that these headphones are good enough to create that sort of imaging.) I didn't find any difference in the bass by removing the foam pads, maybe just a very slight boost to the upper mids?!
The 600 series outperform the 58x in the mids, for sure, but I think I prefer the high end on these, at least with the modest amplification I'm most often using (FiiO Alpen 2 portable). I'm sure with a true audiophile power source the 600 series surpass these even in the upper frequencies. It's the overall sound signature and well mannered behavior with all sorts of sources and material that really make the 58x Jubilees a worthwhile option. The 58x's bass, IMHO, is vastly superior to so many popular Bass Head cans which sacrifice overall clarity and definition in exchange for brain scrambling thumps. And at $150 it's beyond ridiculous what a great value they are. The End.
