Better Than Expected
After struggling with the decision to try another expected "veiled" Sennheiser product I'm glad I took the chance. 150 ohms or not, these shine best when properly powered. I primarily use flac files, Schiit Magni 2 Uber & 3 amps and Modi 2 & Modi Multibit dacs with very good results. They also sound great when connected to my NAD 375 and Peachtree Audio Dac*It combo. Don't expect a ruler flat response from them and you shouldn't be disappointed. These definitely aren't without their own color/sound signature. The sound is rich and textured, nothing dry or lifeless. An incredible amount of detail and power in the lower frequencies from an open back headphone. The mids are somewhat recessed, but still very good. These are more forgiving than many to what can be harsh female vocals. Susan Tedeschi's voice is even close to palatable with these. To my ears the upper end sound is near perfect. If the "veil" is there, it's well hidden.
Regardless of price when properly fed they're quite satisfying cans.
Cons: Out of the box they can be uncomfortably tight. (It passes)
The supplied cable is a bit short for my environment. (I purchased a 10' cable directly from Sennheiser for $11 and change.)
I'm not sure they know they're an open back design. (Kinda narrow soundstage.)
These are all very minor complaints, overall these are a true bargain!
Would recommend to a friend.
Where'd you find the cable?
