They presses a little too hard on the ears, but it Got better with time.

I also suffer from large head syndrome. If you hang your headphone on a yoga block or stack of books when not it use it goes along way towards “training” the band. Had to do it with every pair of Sennheisers I’ve ever owned.
The real answer is the same as the 6XX. Fully extend the earcups, then grab the metal portion of the band and give it a couple gentle bends outwards. Do the same on the other side, not too much. It will immediately fix the issues you're having. Be sure to only bend the metal portion of the headband, not the plastic middle portion. HD6xx PSA - This video describes the process.
