Awesome price! With the far inferior drivers, cheap-looking and bad pads, I think this will be a perfect buy for people who are not the smartest. Edit: maybe I'm too critical but at least if Sennheiser wanted to sell it fairly they should have kept the same HD600/650 earpads. My impression is they changed the earpads to a cheaper one, but I could be wrong.
These headphones are obviously not aimed towards prestigious people. It’s more towards getting people introduced into the audiofile world without having to pay an arm and a leg.
Then why won't them sell it at 99 bucks instead. Assembled and packaged cheap material shouldn't cost this much.
That’s very ignorant to say that it’s assembled with cheap materials when it uses essentially the same materials from the other HD6— series.
No. Pads are not the same. Color way is not ionized/etched anymore from hd6xx. And drivers are totally a downgrade. I don't think you get the point.
Where do you get your information from? It has already been confirmed by Massdrop that these use the old (HD580,600,650,6xx) style pads and not the new, slightly deeper 660s variation. And surely not some special cheap variant. Do you believe that Sennheiser would bother designing and setting up production of a different "cheap-looking and bad" pad variant for a batch of 5000? I bet the 600/650 pads cost next to nothing in production, anyway.
Color/paint appears to be similar to the glossy finish of the HD650, which I have right in front of me. (Other than the silly matte lower part, which appears to be from the 660s).
From a stupid review saying the pads are more stiff than a new HD650 he got. Guess reviews are untrustful these days.
