Wow only 800 people bought these headphones?
Oh NVM 27 more days left
They just extended the drop. I was supposed to end a few hours ago. I'm still debating between these and the 6XX.
The delivery date is more than half a year away. People don't want to spend money on a pre-order that far out. Plus, with CES and other conventions coming up, there will be lots of new product release soon.
Me, I'm going to wait for real reviews and then buy it off the head-fi forum like I did the HDXX, NobleX, etc.
Well the 6XX ships end of March which isn't as bad but yeah the 58X is a long wait. But do I want to spend $50 more for the 6XX?
No they did not extend the drop. I got an email saying I was charged last night and the drop was complete. Then this morning a New drop. All those in the first drop have been charged which means you can’t back out if you change your mind.
Oh okay. Guess they just did a new drop cause they didn't hit their target of units in the first drop.
Yeah, I can confirm that I was charged last night as well.
I just wish there were more reviews out there for the 58X. It's more in my price range but it sucks waiting until end of June for them to ship.
Thanks. I'm not a "bass head" so perhaps the 58X would work well for me. I'm using 598s right now.
Yes, I think the 58X would be a could call.
It's certainly tempting. It would be $207 for me with exchange and shipping charge compared to $270 for the 6XX.
Yeah but the fact that they redropped the Jubilees shows that massdrop didn't expect the massive discrepancy between when the 6XX first dropped and when these first dropped.
well too late bruv they've already charged you
I'm not surprised they're getting low (comparatively) sales. For only $50 more you can get the HD6XX which has a proven track record & reviews, better sound and ships earlier.
I dunno about the 58X's being inferior to the 6XX's in terms of SQ but I agree with you with everything you said.
I think it was just a weird time to have them both on sale. Just do one or the other so people like me aren't still trying to decide which to get. I'm completely torn between the two. The 58X is $50 less, looks better and would still sound really good. The 6XX has been sold before and so has many more reviews and is largely praised by those who own them but it's $50 more and doesn't look as good.
I mean, it's $50 more for guaranteed end-game tier headphones. You don't get better headphones < $1000.
They're that good eh? Do you happen to have the 6XX?
I've owned the HD650, although not the 6XX. By all accounts there's little to no difference though.
Yeah I've heard they are similar. I have 598s right now running off a Micca Origen+ DAC/amp
yes i agree to most you said but the jubilee can be driven by mobile devices alone with the lower resistance. Although the sound quality will likely be lower played in this manner.
i have my eyes on the 6XX since the last drop but just couldn't do it yet. It will be my end game headphone.
I may splurge on the 6XX and swap the head band padding for the one on the 58X/600. Looks like it would be more comfortable.
I think the 650 headband is way more comfortable in my opinion.
Really? So you have tried both styles? Those 58X are so tempting at $150 but the long wait has me holding off. At least the 6XX ships end of March instead of the end of June like the 58X does. But I like the glossy black of the 58X vs the dull matte blue of the 6XX.
Yeah, I definitely prefer the 650 headband. Moreover, If you want a good headphone anyway, looks do not matter since it will be on your head most of the time. Furthermore, consider to yourself if you want a smoother, rich, and bassier headphone. If so, the 6xx is the way to go. I would take a look at this thorough review - http://www.mediafire.com/file/8dr7hp34vq11aag/HD58X+evaluation.pdf
In my honest opinion, I would say go for the 6xx because it is a tried and tested headphone. If not though, the 58x is a solid choice.
Well i'm not into bass heavy music most of the time. I'm more into classic rock/pop, jazz, blues, acoustic, orchestral, movie scores. I know the 6XX won't be bass heavy like Beats for example or even my Sony's but I don't want the sound to be too "thick". Perhaps the 58X would be better though I don't want too bright a headphone either. I don't mind a warm sound but I want clarity and detail as well.
This is from the file link that I sent you. Left is best and right is worst. Just remember that this is all subjective, but coming from a heavily seasoned audiophile who knows what he is talking about.
Bass extension: HD660S > HD6xx > HD600 > HD58X
Bass quality: HD660S > HD58X > HD600 > HD6xx
Mids quality: HD660S > HD58X > HD600 > HD6xx
Warmth: HD6xx > HD58X > HD660S > HD600
Clarity: HD600 > HD58X > HD660S > HD6xx
Treble quality: HD6xx > HD600 > HD660S > HD58X
Treble level: HD600 > HD6xx > HD660S > HD58X
Smoothness: HD6xx > HD600 > HD660S > HD58X
Liveliness: HD660S > HD58X > HD6xx > HD600
Neutral sound: HD600 > HD660S > HD58X > HD6xx
Yeah I saw that. If you look at just the left it seems the 660S is the best one overall. The 58X doesn't seem terribly bad but it sucks in key areas like treble quality/level and bass extension. That "chart" makes even the 6XX not look so good overall. Kinda weird but again like you said sound quality is subjective. People have their own personal tastes.
