How do these compare to HD 598, 6XX, and 600? Any recommendations would be great, just missed the 6XX and am debating between waiting for those or jumping on this. Currently have a 598 and don't want to get something that sounds too similar though.

fullmetal13Immediately and obviously better than 598, with the one exception of soundstage. They are much fuller, clearer, less grainy. To me it's night and day.
Vs the rest of the 58x/6xx series is a much closer comparison. They sound closest to the 650s, full, warm, bassy, encompassing. But they emphasise the treble details more, and sparkle a bit more. They also are punchier and less liquid smooth than the 650s. I think I'd probably choose these if I had to keep just a single pair.
If someone stuck these on my head and told me they were HD-650s, I'd probably believe them. If they told me they were 600s, nope.

spronkSo how do they compare to the hd600? I have the 6xx and tried the 600s. I liked the 600s better for its tonality and detail but I felt the mids hump and the treble could get a TAD sibilant at times and chose not to keep them...if these are a middleground between the 6xx and 600, they'll be perfect!

chuckolatteThe 600 sound feels lightweight, shrill, grainy, and sibilant compared to both these and the 650s, 58XJ is closer to the 650 in overall sound. But they do notch up the prominence of the upper sparkly treble vs the 650. Definitely somewhere in the middle of the two in terms of sibilance. More offensive than the 650, less offensive than the 600. I *think* you would like them (but of course YMMV).
Listning to the 600 for a couple of hours then switching to these, the bass and thickness is almost overwhelming in the same way it is with the 650.
Listening to either of these and then moving to the 600, the 600 feels like it's missing something.

spronkWow, sounds like a real coin toss... I like the bass on the 600 (sounds correct but punchy enough to me), but I do find the mids a bit too offensive. Its treble is airy and adds nice silver most of the time but is shrill about 15% of the time.

spronkJust trolling...hhhmm I mean scrolling...don't think I've ever seen and could never say "The 600 sound feels lightweight, shrill, grainy, and sibilant" ????...they're really not all that different from the 650s...and neither IMHO could ever be offensive or siblant : )

Rob80bI'd say they're different enough for you to consider one over the other. I'd you can tolerate the highs and mids of the 600, GO FOR THEM HANDS DOWN. If not, the 650/6XX are the next best thing.

Rob80bHaha, I'd never describe the 600 as any of those things on its own, only after putting them on immediately after a session listening to 650/58X! :) Even then, within 5 minutes, that feeling disappears again.
