So I've been wanting a pair of good quality open back headphones for listening to music and desktop gaming. Would these be a good choice? Keep in mind I don't have an amp and I'm not looking to get one. I'm casual about this stuff but I still enjoy good sound!
If your computer audio isn't good enough then it might be a "Meh" experience even with this HD58x.
My HD6xx listening through my computer audio (Ausus z270i Reaktek) was better than my $50 headphones.
But only after investing, hesitantly, in a good DAC and amp did I seriously start to enjoy the music (classical in my case).
You can find some halfway decent cheap DACs that will not break the bank and are still incredibly user friendly. It's really nice to have a really good amp for these but even a subpar DAC would be better than just onboard audio from a PC usually.
