I just got my HD 58X and I could not be more dissapointed. Everything you said you about the tweaks to the production are exactly what I now find lacking. Bloated bass, lacking upper midrange detail. As a recording engineer of over 40 years I have to say that these are useless as a reference tool in my work. I am listening to original stereo master recordings through a Grace 902 and 906 DA and headphone amp. I gambled, I lost. I hope other finds these more enjoyable.

suttle.tGiven your experience and equipment, I think Focal Clears would be your best bet.

suttle.tConsidering ur experience and equipment, exactly why are you buying these cans? You sound upset so I can't help but think... Sounds like you expected an awful lot for 150$. Maybe u won't be disappointed with hd800s or Eclears or Audeze? No 150$ cans there for sure.
