I would say they are better, to what degree depends on preferences. Was comparing them last night and the bottom end is finally there. Some say its too much bass but I don't think so. I've always had trouble listening to hd580s at lower volumes, the bass ext just dissapears. People rarely mention volume with respect to freq curves but loudness circuits have been on amps, receivers for years for just this reason. I have a lot,more listening to do re mids, top end but the better bass extension is eelcome. I'm 60 any not cranking as much as I used to but the 580s are still great cans, I'm not selling em anytime soon!😁

Totally agree that if listen on lower volume, the base disappear much faster than the high .

Its actually the physical nature of human hearing that causes the phenomena... its one possible reason for equalization although fine tuning is the best one.
