This HD58X is hackable. Look at this, simple modifications will bring HD58X to have the same sound profile as HD660.

By the way, have you done measurements how the sound changes when you remove the grille foam?

Yes, no change at all, just like when the grille & foam is removed completely.
magenta = stock, cyan = grille & foam completely removed (open backside)

freq res won't show, is like open back and closed back could have the same freq res but totally different sound. CSD is what u should look at, and yes when the grille & foam is removed completely it sound a lot different.
