u have no clue what u ar talking about! remove the foam at the back will increase the airflow and u got more bass, but ur high and mid will become muddier. u can reverse that by fully cover up the back. this is not new for Sennheiser, started from hd 4 series u could do the same for almost every sennheiser headphones.
if u don't belive me u could just take out the frame use ur fingers to block the hole at the back of the headphone, by doing that u will kill the bass and get a more clear detailed mid and high.
and btw 58x, 600 and 650 and found they are NOT using the same main driver, 58x's driver looks more like a hd 5 series driver then the 6 series, specially when u look from the back! u can google the drivers from hd555, they look exactly like the hd58x's.
i don't get what u want to say !
"for 600/650, driver is 600129; 58x uses driver 582099"
" HD555/595 uses HD 555 595, those parts are in China. "
thats not the same driver! doesn't matter they all in Ireland or not ! u and ur friend went to Ireland together ar u 2 the same person ? i don't know wth u talking about dude!!
in fact not just the numbers they look totally different too.
we ar not talking about where they made but how they designed right ?
im not saying they ar the same driver as hd58x !
i said they LOOK the same !
use ur eyes to LOOK ! use ur brain to think ! read and fully understand what ppl have said be4 u make ur conclusion!
The second link is talking about the HD580 ! not HD58X !
Sennheiser HD 6 series ar based on HD580, so yes! the HD580 HD600 H650 HD6xx HD660's drivers ar identical.
but the HD58X is NOT !MD and Sennheiser refuse to say what it based on, but its a typical hd5 series looking driver in a HD6 series frame! im not saying they ar the same, maybe it got better materials inside the driver, but one thing can not be denied! thats HD58X look more alike towards the HD5 series.
To Foam or not to Foam. : )
Something I thought should be addressed is the foam inserted in the outside grill…interestingly it is the exact same size and density as the foam inserted between the cushions and the drivers, considering no other 600 series headphone has them, they may have been in fact added as an afterthought to protect the drivers from outside elements for those considering mobile use or even taking them, god forbid, to the beach ???.. : (
Now some have mentioned that its removal did nothing at all and measurements were the same with or without, personally I would need to disagree…
I’m sure driven off an entry level source they are probably correct but with its removal I was able to discern a distinct improvement in ambient space and air within the recording, layering and depth improved and there was a slight increase in sound stage… some mentioned the foam may improve the lower end but as far as I could tell bass was not affected….overall the outer foams removal is subtle and will depend on the recording but to the discerning ear there is an improvement overall and IMHO recommended to obtain the best performance from these phones.
Sorry Bro, but HD660s is not the same drivers as HD580, HD600, H650, HD6xx ;).
HD58X driver is closer HD660s, but not the same.
I removed both outer and inner foams from each cup and I'm liking the way it sounds. My concern is whether or not is it safe to remove that inner foam that seats between the driver and the cushion.
Which do you like better?
