The only thing I can complain about this outstanding phones are the pads. They are way too flat so the ears are touching the inside. That really could be better solved by Sennheiser. Its lacking just 3-4 mm depth to have more space for the ears. Changing pads is a bit dangerous for worsing the sound.
yeah but many folks have also ears protruding out a little more and will also complaining so when will it stop? I just hope they will give us the same pads as the 6XX.
They ARE the same pads as the 6xx... or at least I can't tell the difference.
Nice.... For half the price of these headphones we can purchase just the replacement pads lol.... Lools like an amazing value....
My ears are fairly small, so the pads aren't an issue for me. You could maybe try some Dekonis.
Yes of course but they all change more or less the sound. I have heard now that all the pads differ. Some newer 58x have Pads with more depth again. ..
You do have a point, but still it might be worth looking into.
Hmm, that's interesting. Well, I got mine in the currently active run and they appear to be the same pads as are on my 6xx's.
Nice to see I found someone with the same problem I'm having. I own the PC37X, 598, 600, and 6XX and the pads on the 58X are much much softer and squish down to nothing. I don't know if I got a bad batch of pads or what but on my other Sennheisers the pads are much taller, stiffer, and overall more comfortable.
I was assuming at first that maybe this was a design choice to create more bass and make the headphone feel more intimate as when they initially sampled these out people were complaining about those areas being lacking. But seeing as others in this thread say their pads are identical to their 6XX it makes me wonder why mine are so squishy and flat, the right one especially. I really don't feel like spending another $50 just to fix the issue either by getting official replacement pads. Maybe I should contact support?
