There has been many great reviews of the 58X.
Not much I can add except a simple anecdote.
I have both the HE4XX and 58X.
If my HE4XX were to break I would be very upset!
But I would move on with my life.
If the 58X were to break I would immediately order another pair.
And if there was not a drop active I would scour the internet!!!
I cannot envision a future without them!
They really are excellent for the price. I agree with you completely.
Is the 58x really better than 4xx?
Not necessarily! But I do think the 58X is a better all around headphone for daily use.
The 58X are lighter, easier to drive and also work well for tv and gaming.
The HE4XX are great headphones but they are heavy not easy to drive and have a laid back sound that might not be for everyone.
If I could recommend 1 headphone for anybody under $200 it would be the 58X.
HE4XX would be my second recommendation.
Also HE4XX do have some quality control issues
It wouldn't be hifiman without qc issues
