i have spent about 1 hour with these playing from my samsung galacy s7 with spotify and my og fiio x1.. i enjoy the sound but even on the fiio it is much too quiet even at full volume.. this is my first pair of sennheisers i assume this means i need an amp ? anyone have any sugguesstions for a good budget portable pocket amp ?
I am running these straight from my OnePlus 5 with no issues... have you tried running them straight from the jack?
I'm just a little confused since the phone should be able to power the headphones alone, without the Fiio. Maybe try them with a computer to make sure it's not a headphone issue?
you can power them with a phone, they wont get screaming loud though without an amp. Also listening environment is an issue, quiet interior setting with a phone is loud enough to enjoy IMO. i probably listen to them at about 80% volume from my Pixel 2 XL and i like my music loud generally. IMO one of the biggest perks of these cans are the portability, my other set is completely unusable on phones or tablets.
i think it may be my galaxy s7.. even my 32ohm AT M50s dont get very loud on the phone.. regaurdless anyone have any sugguestions on a small portable battery powered Amp or Dac/Amp Combo under 100.. doesnt have to be massdrop gear.. can also be used if its a good value..
The Fiio X1 works fine with them.. but some songs are a bit too quiet for my liking.. is it not worth it to get a portable amp for them? maybe something like the Fiio A3 or Fiio Q Mark II? or any other sugguestions..
I'd look into the DACport lineup. You just missed the DACportable drop that was on here a few weeks ago but I use the plain DACport HD just fine with my phone. Not sure about other mobile powerhouse amps but I quite like mine.
My S7 Edge drives these headphones pretty loudly.
