Hi. I joined my first ever drop to purchase the 58X’s. I received them in torn and open packaging with the headphones and cord loose in the box. I plugged them in and was greeted with incredibly distorted sound. It sounds like when a cheap headphone jack wears out and is failing to make proper contact. I tried them on multiple devices and switched headphones to make sure. I’ve contacted support but its been over a day and I haven’t heard anything. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I think it’s likely the cord but I don’t really want to spend money to find out especially with the condition they arrived in.
I have some previous experience with massdrop support (with my HD6XX) and they usually take a day or two, but if it's as you said massdrop will definitely send you a replacement unit if they still have any left. Otherwise they might offer a refund.
Bummer, might be the shipper that mishandled the product. I've ordered 4 headphones from Massdrop and they all arrived in excellent shape.
Massdrop support is negligent. Don't buy anything from Massdrop
Just thougt I’d give you all an update. it took a week and about 5 emails for Massdrop to get back to me and another week for the headphones to ship. They got here today and work perfectly. I am now certain that they sent me a return after seeing the proper packaging. The original headphones work they just had a bad cord. My guess is they tested them with a different cord and threw them back in the box with the same cord. I‘m kind of disappointed with this whole experience and probably won’t order from mass drop again. Shipping someone a return item when they pay full price is not a great business practice and a week turnaround on a basic support ticke is pretty terribl.
My first drop was exactly like yours. Happened a couple of years ago. Just search my post history and you will see pics. Box was mangled to shreds but fortunately the headphones only had a nic or two and wasn’t worth my time to send them back.
