I just got these in after a week and a half or so of waiting. Within the first 5 to 10 minutes of listening, I wasn't too impressed. Music seem to lack excitement and they didn't seem too detailed in my opinion compared to my IEMs. What I should've accounted for was that this was coming from an S8+ as oppose to something that can run it more efficiently. So, to compensate for this, I turned the volume up a few notches. That's when I saw the light. All the nuances were revealed, the background sounds given attention, the voices of musicians and artists fleshed-out, various instruments individually represented, etc, etc. Everything I threw at it(Rap, R&B, Alternative, Pop, Jazz, etc.) were rendered exceptionally. I am extremely impressed with these headphones and I look forward to re-listening to my playlist and various CDs in the coming weeks.
The sound quality improved and you saw the light by... turning up the volume on your smartphone?
Sometimes when you listen to an earphone or headphone, some details or timbre might be muffled until you turn it up to a certain volume-level or run it through a DAC/Amp. So when I was driving these through my S8+, I immediately noticed that certain frequencies seemed diminished(that's usually the sign of a weak DAC/Amp). So to compensate, I tinkered with the volume level on the S8+ until I it got to a point where everything sounded clear and well-represented.
