At this point I have had these headphones for about a month. I must say that when I first got them, I thought that they sounded bad, but I read some reviews about adding a separate DAC/Amp as well as a break in period of around a month. The DAC/Amp combo I got (Schiit Magni Uber and Modi) makes all the difference in the world. I didn't realize all the distortion I was listening to and taking in as music, was just that; distortion. Then they started to break-in around a week ago and the lower end of the soundstage began to open up significantly. I thought they sounded overly bright (but not unlistenably so, just fatiguing) before, but I am realizing that the woofers are just tight and needed to loosen up in order to represent the lower frequencies better. These headphones now sound amazing, especially compared to what I come from in headphones. I have always had audiophile home and car gear, but neglected headphones altogether because I could just rock out loud without repercussion. Now I have neighbors, so I have to keep it to myself more and these headphones are an indispensable part of my sonic enjoyment. Just remember to give them time, juice and a clear signal in order to get the best experience. After all, they are right next to your eardrum and you will hear the faintest of imperfections. I fully expect these headphones to loosen up even more over time and improve even more. I will update this review as necassary.
I have been playing a FLAC recording of Pink Noise I made and letting it run for like 10 hours at a time while I sleep at night for about a week and it has opened my 58X's up a ton.
I have been using the white noise output on my synthesizer. Totally hear a difference.
I want to say that the bass sounds "fuller" but not sure if thats the proper word for it. I definitely feel the bass is alot "better" but "better" sucks for describing sound lol.
