Too much roll off in the highs and lows. Especially the upper midrange and highs. The compromise in fit and finish as well is bearable but lower quality from the hd600 series. This headphone is a flop. I have become increasingly more frustrated with sennheiser since the release of the hd800 (I didn’t like the 800). The brand damage is evident. They need to refocus on their price to perfomance or I will no longer support them.
How can you complain about price/performance when they're offering the same driver as the HD 660S, which costs $500, in a headphone that costs only $150?
This is not the same drive
It's virtually the same. I've listened to both and they're eerily similar.
It is in fact the same driver. See the Z review.
Z corrected himself in the comments. It just has the the same diaphragm as the HD660 drivers but the internals are different. Whether they sound like $500 or $150 is up to the user.
I mean Z to his ears felt like 660s, so that says a lot. :)
