to just let everyone know. I just got a pair of beyer 1990 pros about 2 weeks ago, I LOVE them... I got the 58x 3 days ago... I am returning the 1990 pros. No joke. they are not worth the $600 i paid for them after hearing these.
That's interesting. What are the differences you hear? I haven't heard either headphone yet but was pretty much set on getting the 1990 pros until recently.
the 58x just sound real good to me, bass is great, mids, treble. The 1990s are great as well and they were better than every other phone I had. (at 900x, 400i, HD650s) then the 58x's came and they sound every bit as dynamic as the 1990s pro. You also have the benefit with the 58x of not having to deal with that occasional bad track with lots of highs that the 1990 pros do not like. if I am interested and satisfied with a $150 headphone, why keep the 1990 pros that cost $600. After a few days of listening I knew I would not pick up the 1990s over the 58x and I could still return them. so I did.
I have been on the dt1990 hate train for a while now. They sound terrible for their price. LCD2C is an exponentially better option. I would take my mod house argon's over them even if they were the same price.
