Bought this together with the FX-Audio X6 DAC/AMP.
And boy was it a perfect combination, and also a perfect start up for someone who's starting on this hobby. Initial plan for it is for movie watching and gaming. For movie watching its ok, voice and sound effects are way much better that what I was using before (PX100-ii). For gaming PC (Via USB -> X6) and Xbox (Via optical cable -> X6) its sound stage is amazing, I can tell where foot steps and bullet drops are coming from (BattleField1) way way much better than my HyperX Cloud Revolver. Comfort is amazing as well no ear pain during long listening session while wearing glasses from my PX100-ii and is not that hot compared to my HyperX Cloud Revolver.
Sound without the X6 via my phone (Sony Z3 Compact), PC, and Xbox Controller is ok. There's a huge difference on overall sound quality when the HD58x is plugged on the X6 than directly to devices, so I guess this headphone really do need an amp, or its just that my sources are really weak.
No regrets on getting this even if its a blind buy (never got to test a HD600/660 before buying this)
Anything sounds better with a good DAC/AMP. Not so much the AMP if you are listening at lower levels, but a quality DAC is going to help in all situations.
