I got a Asus Rog Crosshair VII Hero mobo, if I get this headphone, it will work out of the box I guess, but an amp like the Schiit Audio Magni 3 should be enough to enjoy it a bit more, am I right ? I'm a noob about this stuff but HardwareCanucks on Youtube got me excited to buy it :) Any suggestion about a better amp ? Also with this mobo I don't think I'll need a dac, only if there is interference, hissing and what not, I heard. Thanks in advance for your thoughts !
for power you wont notice much of a difference that mobo can handle nearly any headphone. As for cleaner audio, I would also doubt that a dac could beat that mobo.
Thank you for your wisdom :)
no problem save that money, I wasted a good $200 on a schiit audio stack when my mobo was just fine in terms of audio ( I would say even better because usb and or coax is a bottle neck vs a direct connect. If you have a switch or watch movies on a phone or tablet then maaaaybe a dac / amp would help. But maybe by like 15% Asus really has the best audio in the PC business! I have the AMD ASUS Strix ( cut down VRM of your mobo) and its got 10/10 audio.
If you want better spacial
Just bought a SoundblasterX G6, ill give my thoughts. However, Sennheizer GSX1000 may also be an effective and multipurpose unit
SoundblasterX G6 seems cool :) Do you think it's way better with it than our Asus mobos ? I've seen SoundblasterX G6 has Dolby surround sound, is it like Dolby Atmos ? I loved Dolby Atmos at the cinema :P
It is a Dolby compatible device and if you are running an app that allows for Dolby Atmos Cinema with corresponding media then I believe it will work. I have used Dolby Atmos for headphones however that is just a standalone DSP that gets telegraphed... nothing super impressive. I am happy with the G6 and how it drives my HD58X compared to the GSX1000 (much to my regret...) and I am glad that the dual chip processing makes mids and high extremely clear. I am still testing out the GSX1000 but the biggest downside that I cant get away from is that the GSX1000 requires to work in 16 bit for the surround dsp to work....
Oh Ok, I might upgrade to x570 mobo when Zen 2 comes out next year, I wonder what audio they will have. What do you think of a Schiit stack like Modi Multibit (I don't know if Multibit means better than Modi 3, but Multibit is the only one available for Europe) + Magni 3 (350$ for both) ? Sorry to bother you, I'm pretty hyped about this headphone :P I guess I mainly want to drive it stock, have a clear sound.
I took your message in.... So i plugged them directly to my MSI Z97 mobo. It has the ALC1150 chip. Sound is well emulated however I notice crosstalk artefacts from right to left. Thats probably inherently due to the chip being on the mobo and theres no dual isolated processing chips onboard. Another thing... Max volume isnt enough (in my ears' humble opinion) so... There....
