These would be outstanding headphones for a first good pair of headphones. However, the treble was incredibly fatiguing for me. The imaging was exemplary, the bass was extremely good, and the overall tonality was nice, but that treble is very unrefined. I would absolutely recommend that if you can spend the extra $50, get the 6XX. I sold my 58x.
The treble gets tamed with use, I suspect it's related to the pads flatting down. However, I do have the 6XX and it's the superior headphone indeed, though not as "fun" as the 58X.
Between the 2 headphones, which would u choose to keep if u had no choice??
And secondly, are they different enough justifying to keep both??
Thank you in advance for your time!!
I also have the HD600, all 3 are very similar, and sometimes I don't even know what model I'm listening, so no, I don't think you really need to have all of them, it also depends on the kind of music you prefer. For bass oriented music the 58X could be better since it's bass it's stronger than the other 2, maybe too much for my taste.
Even when I wasn't impressed by it at first, and even thought of selling it, the 6XX it's the one with a permanent spot on my desk, the other 2 maybe will be sold or modded. The thing is, I have very sensitive ears, and the 6XX it's really smooth so it's easy to listen to it for hours without fatigue or pain, only my Momentums V1 are smoother than the 6XX, so this 2 headphones are my daily drivers. Also, it's so easy to get used to the full mids of the 6XX that sometimes the 58X sounds recessed in comparison.
YMMV, I think you'll be fine with any of the 3.
One more thing I forgot to mention before, that veil which people talk about with the 6xx and they say it's annoying etc. What's up with that??
Oh, and also about soundstage and imaging, some people say that the imaging is better on the 58x but the soundstage is better on the 6xx, (although they're both not wide sounding) do u see this as true??
The dt 880 600 ohm > any senn
