I have no experience with high end audio equipment but i ve had the audio technica s m40x driven by Fiio Q1 mk2 for a long time and I was very satisfied with the overall sound
But then I ve decided to upgrade to these little babies after reading these positive reviews and OMG!!!
This is a huge upgrade
They have a more realistic sound, musical and neutral with lots of detail without bumping any of the frequencies
I ve also bought a balanced cable so I can get the benefits of the fiio s balanced output( more power)
and these babies benefit a lot from the balanced connection
Wider soundstage and better instrument separation
But although these cans seem to be easily driven I ve got the feeling that the Fiio doesn,t do them justice in terms of power ( about 85mw at 150 ohms)
They sound good at low volumes and they can get pretty loud but as you raise up the volume, the sound becomes a little thin, glare and a bit distorted..
so I ve decided to upgrade to a more powerful amp/dac combo
and came to the conclusion that this is a very expensive hobby :)
welcome to the rabbit holeee ;D
