Okay so I own several different headphones ATH-M50x, AKG 7XX, Hifiman HE400i, monoprice m1060 and these the 58x jubilee ATH-M50x - these were the first hifi headphones i ever bought and I still love them to this day. They just have such an enjoyable sound signature. Although these days they are mostly relegated for travel use. There isnt a thing offensive in the sound of these headphones they are just enjoyable. Their bass is slightly elevated but mids and highs are not recessed. They dont have much of a sound stage and lack some air at the high end. Details are good not the best but i dont feel like im craving more details when listening to them. These headphones overall have a slightly warmer sound signature but not veiled. AKG 7XX - these were my second set of hifi headphones but in all honesty i really dont like these headphones. They lack detail mids and highs both sound recessed highs more so. Bass to me rules the frequency response of these headphones. THE and i mean the only thing this headphone does good compared to all the other headphones is sound stage. These are great gaming headphones because of it but i would not use these to listen to music like EVER way better options in this price range. Hifiman HE400i - Third set of hifi headphones These are great headphones balanced sound great detail and you get that great bass of planars. Nothing to really complain about just lacking in a little detail and highs sometimes could get a little spicy but not ever sibilant. Monprice M1060s - Fourth set of hifi headphones these are very similar to the he400is. Add more detail better bass response and there you have it. Build quality is poor and they are heavier. But they have very good sound quality. Very neutral overall bass is a little elevated but does not overwhelm the other frequencies. Now the 58x Jubilee - I love these headphones, You may hate me for saying this but these are like if you made the m50x open back. They just have a very pleasurable sound nothing offensive. These are more open and have better sound stage than the M50x a little more detail and bass is reduced high end is a little better too. Basically what youd expect in making a closed into an open can. Overall there is sound improvement over the m50x but its not like huge the m50x is no slouch. Its like if the m50x were a slice of pizza and you wanted to sprinkle some goodness on top like some parmesan to make it better. The over all sound is warm but not overly warm. They just are very enjoyable to listen too, just like the M50x headphones. I think these two cans compliment each other one for home use other for travel. These are my favorite headphones so far for everything except maybe classical and the reason is the high end on these is warm so things like piano and other instruments well sound a little warmer than normal. The highs are still very well extended and there is air its just warmer. The m1060 headphones are great for classical music very neutral sound spectrum so highs sound more like they would in real life. But because the 58x are warmer i find myself being able to listen to them pretty much indefinitely without any fatigue. Cons of the 58x jubille - CLAMP omg these headphones have insane clamp. I had to stretch them out a little bit the clamp out of the box was literally painful. The only other not really a con just different is the warmth in the highs it makes highs less fatiguing but not as natural or sparkly as say my m1060.

LuckyEightsAwesome comparison! I also have the HE-400i. Do you also find that these sound pretty similar to the HE-400i? I've only had the 58X for about a day and haven't done a lot of side-by-side testing yet, but that was my first impression.

LuckyEightsGreat review. I don’t have any HiFiman phones but do have numerous sets including HD650, Musical Fidelity 100 and 200, refurbished electrostatic Micro Seiki MX 1 which I have owned since the mid 1970s. i find that no set covers every music genr, volume level or listening environment, hence the numerous sets of cans. I have also tried various AKG versions of the 7 series but they never quite cut the mustard for me. Source and the links in the chain are vital for the best sound quality. I have different headphone amps including OTL tube ones. The different cans I have work best with certain combinations of these and DACs when I play high res WAV or FLAC files. cant wait to hear the 58x as I also have access to the HD660 which it seems to share a good few design features with, including a lower 150 ohm impedance which will make it far easier to drive from one of my favourite but very low power battery headphone amp. will give a full update once they arrive and have been worked into my system
