Hey guys I want some help and your input on what I should buy I had about 300 dollars to use and I selectively want to use massdrop due to a few reasons and was wondering what I should buy. Hd6xx with a amp or dac Hd65x jubilee with amp or dac or both HE4XX with amp or dac or both I think I might need a dac due to my pc being very old and I don't think my mobo has good inbuilt sound card it's a Ga 78lmt usb3. Any other suggestions would be great thanks all. I am not a audiophile play games and listen to music while studying. Also would like to know of the effect of the sound leakage from theese headphones.

Thankyou6xx with a fiio k3. If your a international user you may need to pay shipping and then customs will charge you as well. When your ready to upgrade there is plenty of headphones to try like focal elex, dt1990, lcd-2c.ect You may want to upgrade the amp/dac to something like a thx aaa 789 with a good dac. All headphones are open so they will leak a lot.

ThankyouSo, disclaimer; I only own the Jubilees, but have been reading about the other models when I was considering which to get myself. In your use case, would probably go with the Jubilees over the 6xx, as they are more suited for general purpose usage. They have a more exciting, less relaxed sound signature which is why people usually recommend them over the 6xx for gaming and movie watching. The 6xx are more detailed, better for some genres of music, and scale better with equipment, though. When it comes to the hd58x vs he4xx, things get very divisive. From what I gather from this thread, https://www.massdrop.com/talk/11310/advice-needed-hd-58-x-or-he-4-xx, the he4xx has more soundstage, worse imaging, a more neutral sound, slightly more detail, and is more difficult to drive than the hd58x due to a higher voltage need. The hd58x in turn have a warmer, more intimate sound and ridiculously good imaging, which I personally really enjoy when gaming. Though I don't play competitively, I personally find good imaging more contributing to immersion than soundstage, especially in games like The Long Dark and Soma, but from what I gather, people generally tend to prefer soundstage. The he4xx also have a reputation of shoddier build quality, but better comfort than the Sennheisers. Generally, with these 3 headphones, the choice will likely come down to personal preference and taste, but at least, that's my 2 cents on them. Now, whichever you go with, I would probably get an amp. The hd58x are the least amp-dependant, but they still greatly benefit from that extra power. What kind of amp you should go with will depend on which headphone you go with, as they benefit from different properties. Something like the Schiit Magni or the 789 that Z0d1Ac mentions should be able to drive any of those headphones without problems. The 789 is kind of an endgame amp, though, a bit expensive and probably not the best place to start in your use case, unless money really isn't a factor. An external dac might be a good idea too, though you could also, if you're using a desktop PC and isn't afraid of getting your hands dirty, and want to save a great deal of money, purchase a used sound card, *IF* you can find a good, high-end one for significantly cheaper than the cost of a DAC, and *IF* it supports your operating system. I'm using an ESI Prodigy HiFi on my Windows 7 + Linux Mint PC, and while it's certainly not a versatile solution, it offers very good clarity considering I paid about 1/10th of the price of a decent budget DAC for it. You could, of course, also go for a combined DAC/Amp unit, but if you go with individual units, just remember that the amp will usually provide the bigger difference in sound quality and should probably take priority over the DAC. As Z0d1Ac mentions, all of the headphones are open. They will take in everything, and they will let out most high frequencies, though I still find I have to crank the volume a bit before it gets to the point where I suspect they would annoy anyone sitting less than 5 meters away in an otherwise mostly silent room. I don't think the sound leak is as bad as people make it out to be, but then again, I tend to listen at lower volumes than mostly anyone I know. I prefer my hearing to last.

Z0d1AcWhy a fiio k3? There are way better options out there. I would get a 6XX or he4xx +jds atom personally. If it was my only pair I would lean towards he4xx though.

jm090He's budget of $300 does not have enough for a dac and maybe he wants that and bass boast and optical out for speakers. (Edit: And the fiio k3 is not bad if it sounds just a good as a fiio q1 mark ii for a all in one). 6xx and jds labs atom I would recommend if you don't care about the above.
