daronmalakianAs far as i recall from reading through the experiences of others, smaller soundstage, less powerful but probably cleaner bass, better overall clarity, somewhat worse comfort and built quality.
For the most part, an upgrade in overall quality, but with a couple of compromises. These are very much comparable to the 600 series headphones in terms of overall sound quality, though, at least according to what I've heard.

daronmalakianI just upgraded from the 558 to the 58x. I have been using the 558 for the last 5 years.
58x Pros:
-Bass is significantly stronger and cleaner. I have a Fiio e10k and the 58x has more bass than the 558 with the bass boost on without the reduction in clarity.
-Treble is more present and cleaner. I am hearing details in songs that I never noticed before. Sibilance is about the same or maybe slightly stronger than the 558. I am very sensitive to sibilance and it's not an issue.
-Much better overall clarity and instrument separation. I have noticed that dialogue in tv and movie scenes with lots of background noise is easier to understand even with louder bass noise in the background. I have also noticed that the direction of sounds seems easier to discern, especially sounds that are coming from behind you. Everything just seems cleaner and more distinct.
58x Cons:
-Somewhat smaller soundstage. Honestly, it's not too much narrower and I don't even really notice it other than immediately after I switch from the 558. After a minute or two I get used to it and start appreciating the extra clarity. On the other hand, when I switch from the 58x to the 558 it just sounds hollow and lifeless in comparison. Overall I find myself appreciating the extra clarity within the soundstage more than inaccurate width of the 558.
-THE CLAMP. My only real complaint. I've bent the metal part of the headband and have been leaving the headphones stretching overnight on the box it came with for the last several nights. It's finally getting pretty comfortable, though the earpad material isn't quite as soft. If the 558 is a 10 on comfort, I'd say the 58x starts at a 3 and is at about an 8 right now. I think it will get up to a 9 after another night or two of stretching. To be fair, the 558 had quite a bit of clamp out of the box, but not this bad.
Overall, I'm really happy with the upgrade. It did sound a bit congested at first, but you quickly get used to the smaller soundstage. The one thing I haven't done yet is play games with it, so the smaller soundstage could be a problem there. Based on my experience with movies, the extra clarity and ability to pinpoint the direction of sounds will be more than worth the trade off.
Final note regarding source power: I use literally the exact same volume on my phone and e10k as I did with the 558. I honestly can't tell a difference in volume, so don't worry about the higher impedance.

Ringing in PC38X's
I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Recommendation for my next headphone set? I have Koss 95x
Hey all, What would you recommend I get next and why? I have Koss ESP-95x electrostatic massdrop headphones. These are my first and only audiophile set. I love them. I think my only real requirements is $500 or less for the headphones and that they have a little more low end. I don’t need thump but these are really light on lows…but the experience is still awesome. Also any recommendations on an amp? I only have my electrostatic thingy. I am using the Topping D50 DAC. thx!!

Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?
I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better.
